Question about DSLR...dpi?, Resolution: Nikon 300dpi; Canon 72dpi

Hi..wanna ask the expert here in Lowyat.net....
Nikon got 300dpi horizontal & vertical resolution but canon with only 72dpi...
dpi = dot per inch......
is it any relation with the photo quality??
I search around internet but cant find any information for it...
hope you guys can help me out ya...

Actually DPI is only important when it comes to printing using inkjet printers. Different printers has diff dpi ratings. It is different from Pixels Per Inch (PPI) which is used to measure resolution when viewed on a monitor.
