Even company has flexible hour, it is still better to be prompt to work unless got special circumstances. Easier for company work flow, communication between colleagues.

Sometimes company may have trouble in workflow and communication, when one arrived 8 am, another one 9am, another 9.30am.

I love how the TS starts a topic then provides zero feedback to all the response biggrin.gif

Or maybe he/she got fired for being late?

Oops.. Sorry for giving zero response.
I am actually collecting opinions on the general practice in Malaysia.
So, don't wanna jump in and interrupt the flow.

Plus, nowadays too busy to check the responses yet.

Cool, you are paying attention. It's useful to have some feedback from the original TS obviously, especially after a lot of people have chimed in already. 2-way discussions is always nice

Anyway from my point of view, attendance is a company and boss policy. I've worked in MNCs where flex is allowed and people are judged on their deliverables, not their hours in the office.

Where I've worked, attendance policy also depends on job roles. If you're on shift then start/end times are usually not negotiable unless approved by the boss, come on time, leave on time. However when you're paid 4-digit per day on a drill rig/platform, most of the shift people tend to be very disciplined. Those who can't be disciplined have long been fired.

As long not everyday should be fine.

If more than 2 hours, there is something called time out. Therefore time should be below that time.

If late, then extend working hour la depending on how long late.

As for me, I don't bother as long not everyday and able to meet deadline

Actually, how do companies calculate Time out?

Will it cause deduction on AL?

For example, if already time out for total of 8 hours, that is already working hours for one day, isn't?

Depend on your boss, time out usually is for emergency .. i.e late due to sent pregnant wife to hospital or door got lock out or tyre pancit ..

If not mistaken, is allocated certain hour to a month but not many people know such thing especially if your not working in MNC.

It can be only taken once a day .. in term of monitoring I'm not sure because I do not use it.

I guess some companies work on integrity and they have trust in the employees to not abuse the system...
