got 38 ppl who own this laptop but only few turn up in this thread..

btw wonder how 1720 get in benchmarking...

welcome. i've added you to the new 1720 member list on the first page. there's nothing much going on for now because this thread is meant for 1520, but if we can get more members in, i can have the drivers section setup including 3DMark06 scores list just for 1720 (most probably in V2). it'll be great if you can encourage more members to join here.

if 1720 ran benchmarks in the same controlled environment as 1520, the results will be identical because of the same santa rosa platform and 8600MGT GC

you can right click your desktop, then click nvidia control panel, then click on system information on the bottom left of the window. there you'll see the driver version of your GC. by the way, since you have a 8600M GT too, the latest vista driver i posted on the first page if suitable for you too. check the version before updating.

if im not mistaken, 1720 is more than 4kg right? you must have a strong back carrying it. hehe.. but heck, it's the trade off for that extra viewing commodity. what's the resolution of your LCD anyway?

YEP! Mine also SEC3358. i also believe to be made by samsung. does any comparison between these LCDs manufacturer?

Dun worry, our model is supported. I'm using this program to force my laptop fan to spin at the highest setting when gaming. I recommend this to anyone who OCed their laptop's gpu.

On other news, PhysX is now supported on 8600m gt!  Downloaded it yesterday and confirmed works with our laptop. Click here to download ^^.
But first you must update your graphics driver to at least forceware version 177.39. Click here to download for Vista 32bit^^. Click here to download for XP 32bit^^.

Thanks for the FanControl.really does work. Can adjust the fan according to our environment whether it be in the office, playing games or during meeting.

PhysX is now official!    Nvidia has kindly provided us with this awesome 2.8 gig worth of physx goodness.    Enjoy! 

Update : Make sure you have first enabled your windows system restore and create a new restore point before installing any of the physx driver, just in case the driver's installer messed up ur system.   
Dun be like me, I installed the latest one, PhysX version 8.08.01, without first creating a new checkpoint, and when i restart, my windows failed to boot. 

there's no way you can use the official driver from nvidia. you need a moded driver v177.83 which will enable physX on v8.08.01. everything installed fine on my laptop and physX is enabled. didnt have time to run any tests yet, so i'll look at what you guys have found so far.

Added on August 14, 2008, 7:48 amupdate : anyone notice 3DMark06 performance is extremely poor with 177.83 driver? or is it just me? it doesnt matter if i ON/OFF physX, i can barely pass 4000 mark (compared to my record holding 4.9k).

i always wan to shut down itself especially after i finish dl my things when im slping..any idea?
