Vista system is just so good looking , I'm really impress with it.

Since both of us are using the almost-similiar spec , I guess it should be around ?

Anyway , can I know where to view my GC drivers version in vista ? blush.gif

guess so but duno how much diff with 17"

try GPU-Z
*
I can say 15" compare to 17" is alot as you can see from the picture that 17" got full size keyboard layout which include the Number pad. You can judge roughly from that.
One drawback is the weight of this notebook, you'll cry out loud when you walk around with it. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(alexnvidia @ Jul 25 2008, 08:37 PM)
welcome. i've added you to the new 1720 member list on the first page. there's nothing much going on for now because this thread is meant for 1520, but if we can get more members in, i can have the drivers section setup including 3DMark06 scores list just for 1720 (most probably in V2). it'll be great if you can encourage more members to join here.

Added on July 25, 2008, 8:38 pm

if 1720 ran benchmarks in the same controlled environment as 1520, the results will be identical because of the same santa rosa platform and 8600MGT GC

Added on July 25, 2008, 8:39 pm

i'll take your suggestion into consideration. thanks

Added on July 25, 2008, 8:40 pm

merging threads seems to be the way for 1520 thread to "survive" after the discontinuation of this model.. haha.. not sure if already 1420 members will be happy if we hijack their thread.

Added on July 25, 2008, 8:44 pm

you can right click your desktop, then click nvidia control panel, then click on system information on the bottom left of the window. there you'll see the driver version of your GC. by the way, since you have a 8600M GT too, the latest vista driver i posted on the first page if suitable for you too. check the version before updating.

Added on July 25, 2008, 8:47 pm

if im not mistaken, 1720 is more than 4kg right? you must have a strong back carrying it. hehe.. but heck, it's the trade off for that extra viewing commodity. what's the resolution of your LCD anyway?
*
Yeps , it's around 3.88kg for the Notebook itself and adding the charger and everything will be around 4+kg.
No choice la even heavy as I need it for Heavy graphic processing. I'm using 1440x900 without upgrading to 1900x1200 as it cost extra 400 hundred. smile.gif

I'm glad that my room here can get open source of WiFi. laugh.gif

I'm using this on my 1720 and I have no issues with it ever since compare to the Prolink mini mouse that I bought.
While using this mouse , please slip along a simple mousepad into your bag as this will make you have even more enjoying. smile.gif

Dun worry, our model is supported. I'm using this program to force my laptop fan to spin at the highest setting when gaming. I recommend this to anyone who OCed their laptop's gpu.

On other news, PhysX is now supported on 8600m gt!  rclxm9.gif Downloaded it yesterday and confirmed works with our laptop. Click here to download ^^.
But first you must update your graphics driver to at least forceware version 177.39. Click here to download for Vista 32bit^^. Click here to download for XP 32bit^^.
*
Ahh , you're naughty. You never share the I8k with forumers here. laugh.gif

So basically , what does this PhysX do ? blush.gif

PhysX is now official!  rclxm9.gif  Nvidia has kindly provided us with this awesome 2.8 gig worth of physx goodness.  drool.gif  Enjoy!  icon_idea.gif

Update : Make sure you have first enabled your windows system restore and create a new restore point before installing any of the physx driver, just in case the driver's installer messed up ur system.  sweat.gif
Dun be like me, I installed the latest one, PhysX version 8.08.01, without first creating a new checkpoint, and when i restart, my windows failed to boot.  cry.gif
*
I'm downloading the drivers and what do you mean by 2.8gig worth of physx goodness ? I dint download Unreal Tournament 3 patch and this that patch aswell as I havent buy those game yet. Maybe you mean with all the patch tick , it's 2.8gigabyte ?

Does after installing this drivers make overall performance better ? hmm.gif

there's no way you can use the official driver from nvidia. you need a moded driver v177.83 which will enable physX on v8.08.01. everything installed fine on my laptop and physX is enabled. didnt have time to run any tests yet, so i'll look at what you guys have found so far.

Added on August 14, 2008, 7:48 amupdate : anyone notice 3DMark06 performance is extremely poor with 177.83 driver? or is it just me? it doesnt matter if i ON/OFF physX, i can barely pass 4000 mark (compared to my record holding 4.9k).
*
Ahh , that's why when I click install on it , it shows unable to detect this that drivers.
Do you mean that I need to install third party drivers of v177.83 first before installing the official drivers ?

I'm using 3gb aswell and it's showing Dual Channel aswell. I'm not sure it shows that the RAM is Dual Channel or running Dual Channel though.

Anyway , any one here using Intel 4965 Wireless card ? I'm using Dell 1505 and I'm thinking to upgrade.
Is there anyone interested with my Dell 1505 card ? hmm.gif

At last I updated my Nvidia driver to 177.92 without any error. thumbup.gif

Since alex says that the Physx cuts down on benchmark point , will it affect the gaming or processing sessions then ?
