Can play crysis ?
setting must be ??
anyone can tell me ?

sure can, but at medium or low settings. try lower your resolution too. i've finished crysis on this lappy. acceptable fps, sometimes will lag a little.

i hardware mod my 8600MGT. but for starters, you can just use rivatuner to OC. and get a good set of drivers to ensure stability.

Submitting my 3DMARK06 scores.
*
great. btw, good score for T5550, again proves the point that CPU is not a major determining factor in 3DMark06 benchmark. what driver are u using?

*i will start a new section in first page soon after i collect enough results, so to make this work, i really need your input guys.*

to standardize the test, please follow the basic settings requirement.

1. resolution has to be set to 1280x800
2. all other settings default (u can click on default button to reset to factory default settings in 3DMark06)
3. result screen capture, preferably, should look like the one posted by elwwmatrix and myself.
4. optional: state the forceware driver version if you want.
5. OC is allowed as long as the OC speed is mentioned.

First page updated with instructions and sample screen capture. for those interested in submitting your score, please take a look.

follow this link to update your chipset driver. you have 8600MGT right? choose PM965 chipset software install utility.

updating chipset driver will NOT format your laptop, so dont worry. just pick the right driver from the list. updated chipset drivers improves commnunication between PCIx and CPU, USB performance and overall system stability.

Added on May 24, 2008, 6:46 pm
but how to check whether my driver is the latest?
*
you dont need to check. most likely your chipset driver is very old. just download the file (2MB) and run the setup. the driver will automatically update only required outdated files. simple as cake.

1)Well for my scores, the resolution is set at 1280x800,
2)all defaults settings,
3)driver version i think it is the latest from DELL website,Driver date : 22/2/2008 Version 7.15.11.7431
4) No overclocking done. still looking for tips on how to oc . hmm.gif
5) Mobile chipset is not updated. Will try to update first and see whether any differences.
*
i did post some OC tips back earlier in this thread. you can try to look for it using search with the keyword rivatuner or 600MHz. 174.31 is the latest from Dell. i myself am using 175.75. resolution setting will be shown in 3DMark6 screen capture, the only thing not shown is the OC part, so those who submits their score has to mention whether they OC or not.

try this instead for vista display driver. official dell release, so no risk.

http://ftp.us.dell.com/video/R180763.exe

your 3DMark06 score is really low..too even for fresh factory delivered laptop. try to check what's wrong..have you tried elwwmatrix's advice? also try to update your driver to the link above.

edited: here my details on on9..
http://service.futuremark.com/resultAnalyz...0&resultType=14

im not sure about online result browser, but that is definately not 8600MGS result. it's too high even for GS, but a bit too low for GT. maybe online browser read's your score and categorize it under 8600MGS performance group. just try to update your driver, uninstall the old one, and install the link i just gave you. it might help. factory default 8600MGT should score somewhere around 3.4-3.6k. so elwwmatrix's score is definately on the high side.

dling the driver now but the connection damn slow today...hope rly the driver can solve the prob..rly duwan any prob happen to my lappy..

n 1 more ques..does this 1520 offer us to turn off the laptop manually instead of wait to turn off?
*
dont worry.im sure nothing bad is going to happen to your lappy. what could go wrong with the "tank of laptops"? lol.

what do you mean manually turn off? just press on the power button for 5 seconds and it's off. alternatively u can pull out the battery too (lol, this is only for mac users) but i would not advice you to do that unless your pc hangs.

btw, you do realize he/she is using a "stone age" driver right? and the fact that the processor is way weaker than yours. so your case is not that normal. but that guy has some pretty high score for WEI graphics for a non OC card.

get back to us after you've updated the driver.

sad, tomorrow the technician wil come my house to change my MOBO. do i need to reinstall all driver and software again after changing new MOBO??? any idea?
*
technically speaking, you dont need to. it's the same old thing, as long as they bring the right mobo. try to observe the revision number of the new mobo, should be a white sticker on the back near the RAM slot bearing the name "REVISION A0X", X being a numerical number.

Added on May 27, 2008, 1:39 amwhich version better

Manufacturers generally do some improvement or optimisation and release a newer revision PCB board. so technically speaking, the newer the revision, the better it is (in most cases). i think the lastest board (based on my limited knowledge) is A01*. when did u first got your 1520 anyway? im guessing sometime july, august or sept 07 right?

* - assuming you have the lappy with 8600MGT card. built in X3100 intel graphics has a different board and the last one i saw is A00.

there's no tutorial about all this. they are just my experience. last i've seen is A01 mobo, so try to look at the new mobo part.

if u have 8600MGT, you dont have a X3100. you cant get both. as for upgrading, yes u can, BUT that is only IF Dell decides to release a higher graphics option other than 8600MGT. the 8600MGT on our laptop is modular and removable. 8400MGS users can upgrade to 8600MGT on their own, if you can buy one on ebay.

there must be something u did right, otherwise how do u manage to score that high with no OC and weaker CPU than other members thumbup.gif obviously driver is not the answer because u r using 174 series and some are already using 175 series

the point is, it's basicallly the same thing. u loose some functionality, u gain some. so what is your priority? if you are business oriented user who needs extra security and data safety, business is the way to go. but if u r a home user, or media oriented user, then home premium is the keeper.

in that case you'll gonna get a lot of activation issues or grace perios problems. that oem wont validate on your dell machine because of the unsupported oem certificate
