I have recently upgraded my fibre plan from Astro IPTV Maxis's 30Mbps plan to MaxisONE Home Fibre 300Mbps plan, last month. The download and upload speeds are great but I found out that my ping in Fortnite reached more than double of what it was before (~190ms). The weird thing is when I was on Astro's fibre plan the ping was fine (~60ms) so server distance shouldn't be a problem. The high ping only happens in Fortnite and games such as BlackShot showed good low ping (~7ms).

Out of curiosity and frustration, I tried to use my previous router which is the router that came with Astro's IPTV plan. I connected the router to the Maxis plan modem and connected my PC's LAN cable to the Astro router instead of the default Maxis router. Surprisingly, that fixed the high ping issue and made the ping back to normal.

Unfortunately, after about 3 weeks, the Astro router no longer has access to the Internet and the 'Internet' indicator showed red light. I've tried restarting and everything but it still doesn't work.

Maxis said that it was Fortnite's servers fault and there's nothing they can do. But, it's weird that the Astro router showed significantly lower, better ping than the default Maxis router. Plus, given that both of them are connected to the same modem.

Now, I'm guessing it's more of a software issue and it might have something to do with DNS? I have access to the default Maxis router's gateway but I have no idea what to do. unsure.gif
Perhaps, if I apply the same settings from the Astro router onto the Maxis router that would fix the problem? But, how I can I do this?

Please help me.
Thank you!

UPDATE: I got the Astro router to work again by using the username and password from the Maxis router. However, right now, the ping on the Astro router is as terrible as the ping on the Maxis router (~190ms). Please help.

Basically it means having two routers at the same time. By having public ip, that eliminate the first nat on maxis side. Hopefully thats simple enough.

I see. Okay, changing to a public IP FIXED the problem perfectly. Maxis was incredibly fast. Did a request today at 6:00PM and they changed my IP as public at 9:30PM on the same day! Thank you so much for helping me! thumbup.gif

You are welcome. Its definitely is double nat-ed then. Try enabling ipv6 too. For some game, it helps.

Sorry for the really late reply. All I did was ask my ISP to change my IP address to a public IP address. So you need to identify your ISP and just contact them. It's free for Maxis but I don't think it's free for unifi. If they ask for a reason, just say it's for a CCTV setup or a game server. Hope it works!

Yes definitely. You can ask other forumers for their experience before switching just to make sure.

I requested Public IP and they remoted in and changed the settings.

However, after this, my internet no longer works.
It's just stuck connecting or disconnected with errors of either Unknown, Time Out or Auth Fail

Looking at logs, I noticed an error of "the subscriber is deregistered or the password is incorrect" and "Failed to authenticate ourselves to peer"

The tech tried to fix it but couldn't.
He took my details and said maxis will call back in 24 hours.

So right now I have no working internet.
I myself also tried changing back to old @home ID
Didn't work either

My guess is that they deactivated the @home account, moved me over to @public but my account hasn't been activated yet?
Is there much I can do right now other than waiting for the public ID to be hopefully activated?
