Hi everyone,
I am planning to move to MY in years later,
Just want to know which ISP provides Public IP to home user?

Dynamic IP is acceptable.

Thanks a lot.

As far as I know, only TM unifi fiber provides public ip addresses to their residential customers. I was briefly a celcom fiber customer until i found i needed to upgrade to a business plan to get a public ip i cancelled having to pay rm 500.00 early termination penalty, i called up digi and was informed very definitively that they do not offer public ips at all. I had a phone convo with maxis and the rep was unsure what a public ip was so i went with TM unifi.

Maxis fibre does provide public ip but you have to request for it after installation.

Now is expensive because you was missed the chance to enjoy the free Unifi Turbo upgrade. If you are staying in a condominium in somewhere of Penang, you may have chance to subscribe TIME fiber. It is far more cheaper than TM unifi and Maxis Fiber.

Celcom fiber got support. just call 1300113282. They will assist to raise a request to change to Public IP then set another one appointment to change the config in RGW.
that's what I've been told by celcom technician

if u want to host server or simply need to access CCTV remotely. but if ISP doesn't provide public IP, just use ZeroTier, no need public IP on both end to access each other biggrin.gif

my illustration might be wrong but yea,

With private IP, it look something like this
(mobile/laptop) ---> Internet --> ISP --> (home)
With public IP, it look something like this
(mobile/laptop) ---> internet ------> (home)

for direct connection back to home, yea, you would require public IP

because ISP does not forward your private IP to the internet
(mobile/laptop) ---> Internet --> ISP --> X

some smart device are able to remotely access their device as they go through let's say Apple server, which forwards data between them
(mobile/laptop) ---> Internet --> Apple <--> (home)

why changing from private to public ip require technician to modify setting at home? i tought they just need to set our account as public ip in their system and one time router restart is enough

Celcom not sure, for Unifi, automatic, for Maxis, need use stock ISP Router and they login remotely and change @home.maxis.com.my to @public.maxis.com.my

newer IP Camera aka CCTV has Cloud support since many years ago that would work over private internet ip.

Cloud Live Streaming, not Cloud Storage.

These days all MY Telcos give IPv6, which is 'public' by definition.
So do you really need a public IPv4 so much?
