For me I don't change phone that often, so having 5G now sort of future-proofs it a bit la
*
By the time 5G is widely adopted here the S20 Ultra and Mate 30 Pro 5G will cost half or less than the asking retail price now biggrin.gif

As suspected by Anandtech ealier that the Exynos version 5G will be compromised in terms of features. So, just take this S20 launch in Malaysia as 4G phones. No future proofing. Imported Snapdragon version is the way to go this time.  biggrin.gif
*
I think that's the case with any 5G phone right now. Too many variables and uncertainties about 5G in Malaysia to justify getting a 5G phone for future proofing at the moment. That said, the S20 Ultra is not just about 5G so buyers can enjoy the other features of the phone in the meantime.

Can't bro... U have to buy one unit to give the Exynos 990 a chance to redeem itself. tongue.gif  laugh.gif

No go bro, waiting for OP8 or Mi 10 Pro...

If Samsung wants any more of my money this year they need to do better than this sham of a preorder laugh.gif

And what about yourself? Preordered? Hahaha...

Lol.. U know I know. The poorer network reception on the Exynos Note 10+ is the last straw for me. Wouldn't touch any Samsungs with a pole unless it's an SD model.
*
True bro, and now that I have had a taste of One UI on SD855, it's even harder to buy another Exynos powered Samsunt flagship.

QUOTE(starship1 @ Feb 16 2020, 02:37 PM)
Haha
Once the price drop to a justifiable level , you maybe tempted to buy and sing a different tune , irregardless of Exynos or Easynos.
*
By then I would probably be eyeing the next iPhone already.

By the time the iPhones are available, the S20+ may drop to about a third equivalent of the iPhone12pro price and iPhone 12pro still at 64gb storage.
*
This i-Fag buys iPhones without fail every year since the iPhone 4 smile.gif

You know what, the more I spend my time in this thread, the more I'm curious with the SD version of Samsung devices  Is it that good? Damn, wanna give it a try.
*
I can easily recommend you try the S10 Lite for official MY warranty smile.gif

Whatever others might say, the IPhone has always been reliable and predictable for all its iterations.

Plus all my iPhone purchases are approved by my better half since she will end up inheriting them eventually biggrin.gif

Share the same sentiments ! But lots of ppl kpkb that Samsung shortchanged the my buyers for not having 5 g devices! Lol!
*
I think the kpkb part is more on the dismal free gifts, the 128GB storage and the 5G Ultra doesn't support all possible 5G bands.

Its never "overkill" to have the latest tech at your hands, but it would really be "OVERKILL" when you pay TOP DOLLAR for a phone which isn't even ready for 5G.  laugh.gif
*
It is if you're not gonna utilize the feature before you sell off the phone - which would be the case for me, hahaha...

5G is still at its development stages. So can't blame Samsung either. But since 5G is not needed/available yet, might as well we just use back our phones and wait for 5G to be working and then only decide which phone to buy. Since it doesn't make much of a difference as newer phones without 5G would be just the usual "better processor, better camera, a bit larger screen and better screen", and in the S20's case you even have smaller storage of 128gb of the current 256GB storage expected on current flagship phones.  tongue.gif  laugh.gif
*
Exactly. That's why I can recommend the S10 Lite over the S20 for someone who wants to get a Samsung this year and get their money's worth smile.gif

That, or the Note 10+ for sub RM3000-ish but with the Exynos quirks...

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Feb 17 2020, 03:44 PM)
I'm on the Oneplus 7 Pro and its one of the first to adopt 90hz screen. The 90hz screen is indeed is smoother and slicker, more fluid but its not a deal breaker. If you would ask me if the 90hz refresh rate is necessary, I would tell you No. If the app you are using wasn't purpose built for the 90Hz or 120Hz refresh rate, the phone detects it and lowers the refresh rate to the standard 60 hz. So.... I would say the 120hz refresh rate would be nice to have, but not really a good reason to buy the phone for.
*
I second this. The higher refresh rate screen also consumes more power smile.gif

QUOTE(ipohps3 @ Feb 17 2020, 05:36 PM)
Yeah. Through Shopee. Money refunded.
*
Oh wow. So the deal breaker was really the Exynos chip?

QUOTE(freakenstein @ Feb 17 2020, 06:24 PM)
Not that bad of a price honestly.

I've sold my s10+ and got a rog phone 2. It's super big and heavy, no idea if I'll get used to it or not. Been using it for less than a day.

I can totally imagine s20 ultra users complaining already about the weight and size of they jumped from the s10 series.
*
I was eyeing the ROG 2 for the 6000mAh battery, but in the end decided to play it safe and go more mainstream with the S10 Lite laugh.gif

Whats the issue with the 128GB version if you can add on a micro sd card that is U3 Class 10 UHS-I A2? Speed should be sufficient right?
*
I think the issue also is more to do with the Note 10 series coming with 256GB storage as the base, so not only did Samsung up the prices for the S20 series but they also offered lower base storage.

Usually which retailer will carry snapdragon imported set?
*
I think imported sets mostly can only get from online platforms, though I'm not sure if the big guns like DirectD or Mobile2Go may eventually have it.

DirectD was a good source of grey units but they stopped getting supply ever since online sellers are selling them at a cheaper price. I only buy from DirectD on special sale like 11.11 etc.. or their clearance sale.
*
I remember when they were just a small shop in Subang, I would go there and queue to get my phones from them coz they were like RM150 or so cheaper, hahaha... Anyways, times have changed smile.gif

Yup and we can thank the Chinese brands for that. They provided literally the essentials for customers ages ago. Free casing and screen protector, then Samsung followed suit first with a brand new A series to strike back their mid range segment, their mid range segment was one of the worst, look at it now, not bad already.

Then now you can start to see Samsung branching out and giving decently priced flagship phones and that's the s10 lite.  I don't think anyone would imagine Samsung giving us flagship specs for around Rm2k.
*
But now the S20 range seems a little far off from being decently priced flagships smile.gif
