Buffalo meat not so tasty as compare to cow/beef.....
buffalo meat is more hard to chew ..... in malay is "lebih liat" .... simply different texture of meat.... Normally tasty food will be more expensive compare to less tasty food..... Similar to "fish world" u can also see the relativity.... comparing Tillapia and Marble Goby...... |

Buffalo usually imported, so usually much cheaper. It's usually more blocky and less fat too.
When I was in Langkawi long time ago, kenduri usually use buffalo meat as buffalo more easier to get that beef. |

supply vs demand.
we have more supply of buffalo beef than cow beef. we imported buffalo beef from india. for cow beef, mostly we use suppliers in malaysia & australia. taste almost the same if u cook it with other ingredients but if u try to cook/grill buffalo beef itself, u can feel the chewiness and the difference when u use a cow beef. |

Buffalo meat slightly liat/chewy but it is good for dishes that need to cook for long time such as rendang.
Once cooked, hardly make any difference between buffalo and beef. Lots of import for buffalo meat hence cheaper compared to beef. |

Here is what I found on the internet: Buffalo is a type of bovid, but their meat is different from beef in many respects. Buffalo meat has a lower fat content, and its fat is milky white, compared to the yellow-white fat of beef. Buffalo meat is darker in color, and buffaloes, because of their larger size, have harder bones than cows. But from my personal experience, I can tell that buffalo is lighter meat and tastier. You can cook it the same as a chicken because the amount of fat is very similar. I cook chicken on apple woods for the best taste. There are a few best woods for smoking chicken, but Apple is my favorite.
