I am not sure which permenantly deleting file option you mentioning here, but there are 2 ways to work on it.

1) Click Shft+Delete (Then you are unable to recover it from recycle bin)
2) To delete files permenantly from your hard disk. Download a files restoration software (there are a lot of freeware from the web), install the program -> scan for potential recovery file -> finish scan -> Check all the file -> choose the option "delete file".

Reverse engineering concept. We do a delete instead of using the software to restore files. smile.gif

Even if you delete the file, empty the recycle bin, the file is probably still physically on your hard disk.

What the OS does is just delete the reference to the file, and that sector will be replaced by some other files as and when they come in

Use TuneUp Shredder as suggested to permanently remove the file smile.gif

The longer method is to recover those "deleted files", then you "securely delete" OR "shred" the recovered files. Cheers!

use a privacy utility to "zero-fill" (or similar mechanism) the empty space on the hard drive. most privacy utilities allow you to do that.

Normally zero-fill means to wipe off all data on the drive by filling every sector with zeroes

Only use a low-level zero-fill or diagnostic utility designed for your particular hard disk. You can download one for free from your drive manufacturer's web site.

all u need is a file shredder. it will overwrite the "area" on the harddisk where the file resides, making it almost impossible to recover (maybe the CSI or the MI team can recover, i dunno happy.gif)
