Hello,

I am interested to buy a new scooter between 150CC / 250CC preferably with ABS, I considered Sym Jet 14 200CC, I also saw the Yamaha Nmax but it is only 155CC.

Any recommendation ?

Thanks

NMax dont have ABS... NVX got front ABS only.
Piaggio Medley S 150 have both front and rear ABS.

The cc is not exactly 200cc.... it is just at 168cc iinm.
Hence, I am putting my vote towards NMax/Xmax, whichever permitted by your wallet.

Well my reference was Sym Jet 14 200CC with ABS around RM8000. Price is very good but I can go up to RM12000 for the right scooter.
It is for leasure only (no commute or work) suitable in size and power for 2 westerns (a bit more heavy !!!) to go around Penang island and rarely to mainland.
Main purpose is short distances less than 10k and avoid most of the traffic jam here.
The reason I look for alternatives to this Sym is that I saw on this forum that parts and repairs are not good in Malaysia for Sym. Since I plan to have a very light use of this scooter but keep it for a very long time, I do not want to run into problems in a few years for maintenance.
I already saw on Mudah than less and less dealers seems to carry it which may not beva good sign despite the fact that Sym is a very reputable manufacturer.
I hope it clarify things/
Thank you

Have you considered a Vespa? sprint of Primavera? for leasure only right? and its design in Pontedera Italy.. and made in Vietnam..

Should be strong enough to pull two adults in Penang traffic Jam.. And vespa parts is easier to source in MY compare to SYM..

And when you want to sell it after long time, it still holds the value well.

I always wanted to have a vespa, they are the most beautiful scooters but... I thought they were too expensive.
However I just check 150 LVX, price is not too bad and design is fantastic, only ABS is missing
Sprint 150 has ABS but RM18344... which is not cheap. I saw promotion on Mudah at RM15000
Primavera has ABS as well but also RM17475...

While checking, I also saw the Medley 150CC ABS at 8900 but it does not have the look of a Vespa

Holding good value is a strong argument, thank you

Most of medley 150 in Malaysia.. is a 2017 year made, so its old stock at the showroom... its one time attempt by the Piaggio distribution company in Malaysia to diversify the product outside vespa range..

However their strategy flopped, as the bike does not offer outstanding value in terms of looks and power compare to other brands (Japan, China, Taiwan) scooter maker... and yet they selling it at premium price (at that time) higher than its asian competitor...

Yes it does come wit ABS..but would you take 2 years old stock scooter? and.. since Vespa distribution right now moved to the new company in Malaysia, what about parts availability of this Model? need to consider too..

I see, I did not know all that.

In the meantime, I tried a Vespa and it is a bit small when my wife is with me, therefore not so confortable. I currently rent a Yamaha Nmax 155 and I must say that it run well for only a 155CC.
It seems impossible to even see new Modenas elegan in motorbike shops in Penang as they say that scooters above 150CC do not sell so well

Thanks again for your imput, it is really great information.

ABS is very helpful when come to panic braking. Owner should get it if budget allow.
