Speaking of lousy football commentators, does anyone feel that that Football Extra show with Andy Penders and Jamie Yeo is an embarassment? Granted, Andy Penders and that Australian guy who used to play football are pretty good but their co-hosts and style of show are completely cramping what they can really do. I mean, what the hell is that fat Singaporean rapper doing on a football show? And let's not get started on Jamie Yeo.

What Shebby can do is get a show together with Andy and that Australian guy and put on a really good football show. I think Shebby has more comedic talent than he shows. Definitely more than that fat Singaporean nonsense.
The way I see it, there is a difference between being a commentator, pundit and host. I've not heard Andy Penders nor Jamie Yeoh commentate on a match before but I think Andy is a good host, as is Jamie (yes, we all know why they picked a pretty face). It doesn't matter if she doesn't know too much about football, she is hosting the programme, not providing the content. I agree that Heikel is a little 'sesat' though, can't see how he adds value to the show except by pretending to be like he's from the ghetto. I just think people should distinguish between a host, a commentator and a pundit, and not lump them together into one single entity.

Jamie, hot as usual, I won't mind watching the show solely because of her. wub.gif

As for Heikel, I do think that Football Extra is a fun football talk show, hence I'm okay with him. I do love it when he was opposing Shebby during the show when he was commenting about that Gerrard should leave Liverpool.

True, we have to consider the commercial value of the show, and not watch it purely from the perspective of a football fan.

Jamie cant be chose based on the hot face alone but other `hotness' as well...
several other hot mamas are also in footie shows now....sometimes their dressing makes it hard to focus on `bola' sepak...

Simple rule lah dude, "sex sells". People go to certain clubs because of hot babes, they buy cigarettes because of hot babes, similarly, they will watch a programme if there is a hot babe. I know I do smile.gif

to me, John Dykes is the best host!

Yes he is, he always appears so in-control. He knows his stuff and cuts people off when they start to ramble (i.e. Shebby - he can be pretty long winded). He involves the entire panel and gives them equal time to comment, albeit on different issues.

now comes to punch line

what is Shebby is still Shebby in terms of bahasa, knowledge, style but he is now a Hot mama with body to kill and dress left very little to imagination?

will we be that harsh on him?

Of course not! biggrin.gif Though his speech is really annoying but I'm pretty shallow to an extent, I could live with her if she looked good.

He is indeed an avid Spurs supporter. You'll notice this each time the panel begin to talk about Tottenham. It's pretty obvious. There are a lot of fans from his generation that are Spurs fans. I know a handful myself.

Shebby needs to improve his grammar and stop stating the obvious. "Yes John, the world is round John". "Yes John, the grass is green John".

On countless occasions I've seen him engage in debates with McMahon and Paul Masefield, and time and time again, he seems to lose the plot. Once when McMahon asked if he's played in England, he went, "no but I've played a friendly against England". Erm no Shebby, not quite the same thing rolleyes.gif . If you look at the way Masefield, McMahon and Reeves look at one another and laugh when Shebby makes and outrageous statement, you get the feeling they're treating him like a court jester.

After reading some of the comments about shebby, it is really a shame that many of us (malaysian) tend to sit there and criticize people. Hey lets give credits to this guy. It is not easy to talk especially in front of the tv. Until now he is the only malaysian pundit out there and week by week giving some interesting comments about football. Just give this fella a chance and we juz sit back and enjoy his sometimes outrageous comments...Isnt it fun?

Should not be benchmarking him against his peers? i.e. Masefield, McMahon and crew, not some orang asli fresh out of the jungle.

To be fair Duke, Shebby seems to be the only one out of the 4 who likes to think out of the box..sure his comments at times may be daft and controversial but there are times when i can see where he's coming from but he still gets fried by the other guys. You can praise McMahon, Masefield, and Reeves but the thing is they always go with the flow and they change their opinions as quickly as the most fickle of fans. You see McMahon slagging Man Utd at the start of the season when they had their poor run of form and suddenly he's all praise for them now. Arsenal were downplayed at the start, and now it's all good.
*
My criticism of Shebby has always been:

a) He has a limited vocabulary - Being a commentator/pundit, your ability to speak is of the utmost importance, even before content. No point in having something really profound to say when no one understands you. Repeating the same words over and over again make you really annoying to listen to.

b) He likes stating the obvious - Don't think I need to elaborate further.

Sure he thinks out of the box, but sometimes his suggestions make his come across as an astronaut. To his credit however, he did say sometime last season that neither Sissoko nor Kuyt are Premiership material, and it would seem that he is right.

Again, I'm not judging him as a person but as a commentator/pundit.

I won't go into his commentating since what most of you guys are saying about him is mostly right .

On the other hand ..........

If you're all whining about Shebby being a pundit who is biased towards spurs then what about McMahon ?
Day in day out , he keeps praising Liverpool (eg: Liverpool have too much quality) and always predicts Liverpool will win although their form says otherwise. Even the betting advisor (whatever his name is) keeps picking on him because of it . Also tends to use "we" when talking about Liverpool too .
*
Actually I for one have never thought that Shebby was biased towards Spurs. I have met him in a bar before and had a conversation with him over a few beers and he comes across as a decent bloke, which is why I said my attacks weren't personal. A lot of people are the bar were giving him a lot of stick for being a Spurs fan but he just smiled and laughed it off. I don't think his comments are biased.

McMahon if you ask me, isn't all for Liverpool. Of course you can't compare his allegiance to the club with Shebby's. I mean McMahon actually played for the club, grew attached to them and has lived there. He however is not completely biased as you allege him to be. I'm sure some blokes can back me up on this; he has some pretty strong words to say about the club like "why keep rotating and not play your best players each week?", "why does Rafa always look at this game with the next in mind? Why not focus on each game as they come?", "Liverpool simply haven't got the quality". These are just some of his comments. He may be a Liverpool fan at heart and it may show sometimes, but even he isn't as optimistic as some posters here.

I remember Shebby commentating once during the recent KL Futsal World 5's. He was all for implementing the rules we have on the futsal court onto the football pitch... Rolling substitutions, kick-ins, paused time, time-outs and a few others... Madness
*
There was also talk about having 7 substitutes on the bench. I for one am not against the idea of having more substitutes involved. It may benefit teams with a large squad but it will also ensure that players are fresh and the pace of the game can be maintained through the 90 minutes of play.
