I see..
Looks like upb using normal internet line.. maybe thats why auto video quality..

The white stb using dedicated vlan for tv streaming.
Last time i tried white stb using vlan tag wifi, lag like hell.. 😅

That dedicated VLAN is why I will never part with my old white box. It has higher bitrate, higher framerate (50fps) and no overhead delay.

After multiple times contacting different CS, I finally managed to get my the old stb box hooked up with my upb account.

I must say the difference is really alot comparing the two. the old stb box quality is much much better. the colors is much richer and shaper. not to mentioned the subtitles are not longer pixelated like the one in upb.

I strongly strongly suggest those who are not satisfied with the picture quality of the upb to get a stb box and hooked up with your account. all you have to do is just tell the cs that you want to bind the mac address of the stb box to your account and you will be able to use the stb box. Both of them are using the same login id which ends with @iptv

really no regret buying the stb box.

Because the new STB is streaming the same content as the App webstream, while the old one is a direct feed using it's own dedicated VLAN.

From what I tested, the old STB is 50FPS, at least 10Mbps quality at 720p, while the web stream is 25FPS, 4 or 5 Mbps at 1080p.

Also due to the STB feed being direct, it's at least a few minutes faster than the web stream that has to be re-encoded first

why i feel watching unifi tv is like worse than watching lanun iptv

the video quality so poor and the subs are pixelated

how is this acceptable X.X
*
It's catered to the average Malaysian internet speed. Honestly tho other than the 25FPS frame rate, the quality is not that bad. Just a bit lower quality than Astro Go (which sadly also is streamed at 25FPS, which makes sports looks like slide show). In the end, I still rather use the white STB that utilised the dedicated VLAN600 for UnifiTV, rather than use the app

Hi, do you felt the white STB UI was laggy? I got one white STB and one black UPB, so I can felt the difference.
*
Kinda. But then again that white STB is quite old. Hence I only use it for UnifiTV and never actually use any of the other features (iflix or anything else). I wish there is a replacement for it, but the black UPB is solely IPTV instead of using the dedicated VLAN sad.gif

oh! it requires VPN, which means need to tweak the box first (bypass official).

IIRC you can wait until June, when Disney+ is officially launched in Malaysia

yes, I am waiting, but I'm not sure TM Unifi allows us to download and stream via plus box.

Should be fine. It's not like Netflix that it needs certification

Note that this "Hybrid" is that it's hybrid with DVB-S2, something similar to Astro with satellite, unlike Unifi-TV which uses a dedicated VLAN. So no, this won't be the model.
Likely that the model that Unifi TV will be using is one that would be able to split the VLAN internally in the STB, where VLAN500 is used for normal streaming, and VLAN600 for OTT.

I wonder how they will split the data/OTT. LAN = VLAN600, Wifi = VLAN500?
I have a feeling a number of customers would be complaining about the setup not being straightforward hmm.gif

Certified Android TV box is given the option to use either this design (G10), or the Google Chromecast simplified design. There is one more design (G20), which has a full numpad, but that's mostly used by TV with built in Android TV OS.
