Background: I had Astro for the living room the old HyppTV set up box in the master bedroom. I've dropped my Astro subsription and got two Unifi Plus Box for both rooms. I don't have a radio set (gave it away because it took too much space).

Question: I used to listen to local radio stations using Astro, but I've never had access to any radio stations on the old HyppTV. Is there a realiable way to listen to local radio stations using the new Plus Box?

I tried installing a web browser (can't remember what it was called) but the sound kept stuttering and it wouldn't shut off if I switched back to the UnifiTV app to watch TV.

I dont have unifi plus box..

So, I'm just wondering, isnt there any radio apps that you can download.. Nowadays, all radio has their own apps already for live streaming.. and for international radio, we can use shoutcast apps.. I dont know whether it can be downloaded in unifi plus box.. I'm not giving opinion here. I'm actually asking a question..

One of the first things I tried was searching for RTM Mobile. It never appeared in the search results, so I looked it up on the Play Store via the web browser and it specifically mentions in the list of devices I own that it is not compatible with the Plus Box.

I'm not really bothered about international stations or other music streaming services, I'm just looking for local radio stations like traxx, lite FM, etc...

1)Does it means, we get the unifi plus box but we cannot watch any single channel?
2)How long we need to pay the rm20/month. Is it for 2 years only or forever. IINM, in the current billing system, no more such thing as paying rm20/months for 2 years. This 2 years term only applicable for early adopters.

Anyway, if no (1) above is true, it's better to get other android box like mi tv stick. It has same functionality as unifi box + netflix.

1. If you already have a subcription e.g. the hypptv ultimate pack, you get all the same channels as you've previously had on your old STB (however you will have to self-install). If you don't already have a subscription, all you get is the box + whatever apps are included in it. So if no subscription, you can still watch Youtube and whatever free services you can get from the apps/net.
2. 2 year contract, once over you'll have finished paying for the box. If you end the contract earlier you'll have to pay for the balance plus some extra fees. Basically, the box is RM480 not including SST.

Just received my unifi plus plus
Now i have hypptv (white) n unifi plus, the installer said u can use both, just switch tv input

In unifi plus, there no BBC news program but in the hypptv there is bbc world news channels
I only watch killing eve in bbc plus app

Which is the kodi addon for sport tv series n movies?

Whatever you get on the old box you should be able to get it on your new box. I still have all the channels from my existing ultimate pack subscription after switching to Unifiplus box, and this includes BBC news. Your subscription is tied to your iptv login, not your box.

This one i know, but in bbc player i cant find bbc news
I have to open unifitv app to look for bbc news
Btw, bbc plus app doesn’t have many good tv series except sherlock n killing eve

Ah, that's BBC's app not Unifi's app, the BBC player is just included as a pre-installed app. I've no idea why BBC doesn't include their own BBC news program in it, I've never felt the urge to try and open it before.

Just called unifi and they told me that the new upb box login cannot be used on the old white stb box even if i buy an extra unit outside..

what a bummer

I'm using my old STB login on the new UPBs.

And here's the weird thing, before I bought the new boxes, I called TM to confirm whether it's possible to run 2 boxes simultaneously (I was replacing the old STB box and cancelling my Astro subscription). They said, yes, but I will need two new separate logins for the new boxes. So upon signing up for 2 new boxes they asked me to provide login ID candidates (3 each). Once processed, I was told they will send me an SMS of the confirmed logins.

A few days passed, and I get an SMS from TM. I was expecting two new logins, instead I got one...and it's not even any of the candidates I provided, they sent me my old STB login. To complicate matters, shortly after, only one box arrived instead of the two I ordered. Naturally, I called up TM and asked for an explanation, and they said that they haven't even processed my order yet. So why the hell am I already receiving a unit? They had no answer for that and said they would investigate and call me back. Despite that, the UPB worked fine with the old login ID. I decided to wait for their return call.

But before I got a return call, a few days later another SMS and box arrived. Once again, it's the same login ID, the old one for the STB. Now I'm frustrated, as I was put under the impression that I needed two new logins but received none, and I'm worried that I won't be able to run two boxes simultaneously. I call up TM again and again they said they haven't finished processing my order yet, and again I express my bafflement at receiving two units separately with no new logins and before they have even processed my order. But this time they say that both UPBs can use the same login, andI should have no problems running them simultaneously on two different TVs.

So I tried setting them up together. Both could run using the old STB login, and both run simultaneously...except that the UnifiTV app kept displaying a session timeout screen on each TV alternately every 15 minutes and asking me to renew the session. But if I ran only one box at a time I received no request to renew session. Convinced that the issue is caused by 2 boxes using the same login ID, I called TM again the next day to complain and demand for the two new logins that was promised to me when I signed up. They insisted that my order showed only one login, using the old STB login, and tried to reassure me it should work for the two new boxes. Explaining the session timeouts to them was exasperating, I'm not sure they understood my problem, but they promised to investigate again and call me back.

The session timeout issue persisted for a few days before simply disappearing. Other issues came up and went as Unifi seems to be updating their app every few days. I missed two return calls from TM due to misplacing my phone, so they sent an SMS instead to tell me they considered the issue resolved because I didn't answer their calls. My new boxes are currently running fine, even though they're both using the old login from the STB.

But for me, I don't consider the issue resolved. They told me I needed two new logins, even asked me to give them candidates for selection. I got none, and the apprehension that problems would occur if I keep using the old one. Sure, things still worked out in the end (it's been over 3 months since), but the whole experience just gave me a really bad impression on TM's customer service. It feels like that their sales rep don't know their own products and end up giving misleading/contradicting information, and their tech guys can't keep keep track of reports and orders as I had to explain my issue repeatedly every time I call them up or get transferred from one department to another. And when you miss two calls they just forget about you.

Way to go TM, you really show you care about your customers! rolleyes.gif

Just saw my latest unifi bill was the higher since I had signed for 24 month. Call the CS , they told me my package was the outdated and need to sign up for the latest package. So I still wonder to choose for maxis fiber or continue subscribe unifi. But the unifi package price already increased to 349 or 370 from Rm316 as my current all in price. I just read the maxis website and know that the router using the AT &T instead of TP-link or D-link. Im from JB , someone from JB friend can give some suggestion about the maxis fiber.

RM20/month per box is not inclusive of service tax. Also the first bill you get will likely be charged two months worth of usage, it will go back down to RM20/month for the remaining 22 months. Assuming your previous monthly plan is 298/month not including ST, there's an extra ~RM10 charge on top of the RM20 for the box. I have no idea where it could come from (telephone bill?). Check your itemized bill and confirm where exactly the charges are coming from. They can't change you to a more expensive plan without your explicit consent.
