Idk why. But shouldn't that turn be greenlight as well. Why red light when the junction just turned green. That would just cause traffic jam because red light

lol, kinda agreed with most ppl here, SG traffic law is really weird, u can see from here that lorry suddenly have to stop in the middle of a junction, whereby ideally it should be green. i also hate driving in SG, seriously the traffic lights law is damn confusing and unnatural.

Both sides going strght is green. Right turn red.SG traffic light law is similar to most of the world. Turn is allowed when there's no car & pedestrian unless memang got red light. Malaysia drivers cannot follow that law, take a guess on what's the reason~ u ever stopped for pedestrian to pass when u r at a zebra crossing? Good thing is Malaysia pedestrian won't kena killed when walking at other countries~ |

QUOTE(mushigen @ Jan 17 2020, 09:15 PM) This is incorrect. Red light means stop, for right turning vehicles. They can turn right even during red light as long they stop first and asses the trafficYou probably konfius it with "no green arrow also can turn". It is called descretionary right turn but due to high accidents most or the road is replaced by Green Arrows but this will only enforced in 5 years time SINGAPORE – The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is doing away with "discretionary" right turns at traffic junctions where feasible and, in five years, most junctions will allow motorists to make right turns only when the green arrow signal appears. I Malaysia damn sohail no car also wait until green ppl start beat traffic. Red light means cannot turn right. Don't listen to those ignorant people here who create own rules.Discretionary right turn means the round green light is on (traffic going straight can move) but green right arrow is not on yet. If no oncoming car or adjacent got no pedestrians, you can turn right. The advantage of this system is it allows traffic from both directions to move, only those turning right must practise discretionary turn or wait for green arrow. When green arrow is not on and the round red light is on, both traffic going straight and turning right must stop. In example below, you can only turn right when green arrow is on, because the round red is on. When the green arrow is off (no red arrow here) and red light is on, you must not turn. ![]() |

Not surprising if you don't have a licence or you don't drive. If you have other proof of "red can turn right", or the so-called change 2 years ago, please share. Else, we'll just stop here. There is always a clear sign that says "turn left on red" or something like that. Meaning you cannot suka suka do descretionary left turn if there is no sign that says so, therefore it's less confusing. Macam U turn - one can only do U turn when you see the U turn sign. |
