QUOTE(FlyingVCLplayer @ Jan 17 2020, 05:06 PM) different engines can have different performance due to different tuning and hardware320i, 520i, and 330i for example have the same B48 2.0L TC engines, but they churn out different numbers for all sorts of reasons Obviously 320i owners will claim (and rightly) that their engines are the same as the better performing 330i engine, but we all know they are just jelly |

QUOTE(wild_card_my @ Jan 17 2020, 05:20 PM) different engines can have different performance due to different tuning and hardware It's funny some people.320i, 520i, and 330i for example have the same B48 2.0L TC engines, but they churn out different numbers for all sorts of reasons Obviously 320i owners will claim (and rightly) that their engines are the same as the better performing 330i engine, but we all know they are just jelly When Myvi launched, all clamoring that it's the same engine as Toyota Vios despite different engine code, hardware, tuning, material and power output (2NRFE and 2NRVE) But when Geely use same engine family, oh noes cannot be same as volvo coz jatuh air muka Volvo. As for your BMW examples, alot of times they have different output so they can segment the cars into their respective price brackets, without having to implement costly hardware changes. If you are doing it for fun then no problem because you are not concerned about reliabilityI am sure there are hardware and low-level codes that cannot be modified that differentiate the B48 used by different models QUOTE(dares @ Jan 17 2020, 05:28 PM) As for your BMW examples, alot of times they have different output so they can segment the cars into their respective price brackets, without having to implement costly hardware changes. This is true. This is also called product binning. Intel/AMD and other chip makers do this all the time. Every price for every customer segment, so they can maximize profit. |
