KUALA LUMPUR: The breakfast scheme for students in national schools will continue but only for those who are deserving, says Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

The Prime Minister, who is also the acting Education Minister, said it would not be fair to provide breakfasts for all students across the board.

"The breakfast scheme for students will be continued, but only for those who cannot afford it.

"To provide breakfast to everyone means even those who are rich and (can afford to have) breakfast at home) will get them too. So, it's not fair.

"We will continue the scheme and add on only those who are deserving," said Dr Mahathir, who spoke to the media after officiating the Balai Islam Complex at Tenaga Nasional Bhd headquarters in Bangsar on Thursday (Jan 16).

Former education minister Dr Maszlee Malik had previously stated that the breakfast scheme would be for all students regardless of their income status.

Deserving... 🤔

Some kids are not worthy? :/ I know I know sure say like based on income bla bla, but
This might cause friction among the kids

Those that get will be looked down upon by peers as poor, those that don’t get will secretly envy of those that get the breakfast

It will create a class system in schools.

The haves and have nots.

Think of your primary school kid learning that life is unfair. It'll fark him up with prejudice for the rest of his life.

Should do that ma. Expose to kids that:
- tongkat exist in this country.
- hiring in mandarin speaker.
- doctor is jobless.
- politician best income.
- adult who seems friendly to each other actually racist within.
- masuk famous school need got A) connection with the head master & B) moneys.

Good u-turn. The money can be spent somewhere else which is more important like refurbish the toilet in school, replace old chairs & desk in classes & many more.

People who aren’t so poor should provide food or money to buy food for the kids anyway. It isn’t that expensive anyway. Don’t breed if you think feeding your kids are expensive.

should just create a system/chanel for the rich to help the poor..
like in canteen create some tickets/coupon, rich student/teacher can buy and put the tickets/coupon on board, poor kids just take any coupon available and use it for free..

but this one require HONESTY..

Those rich kiasu parent will let their kids eat salmon burger/sandwich infront those poor kids laugh.gif

Another possible alternative will be rich parents need pay for their kids breakfast, while poor will be subsidies from gov.
Then school will buy same/uniform breakfast for all student. (Inb4 head master songlap those fund give bad food laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif )

For management level, u need to be promoted to that level. If u werent, u need to learn fast as ur decisions can impact the company future directly.

And for a minister is more important coz whatever they decide and do will impact this country in the long run. Any damages done will affect alot of people for a long time. Just like how they decide to gst, see how things are now.

Unlike private sector, if make wrong decision, worst case scenario, company bankrupt. The staff can still go find work elsewhere. A country does not have such luxury. Any wrong move the people will have to bare with it. Its not like they can easily migrate to other country if the boss fucked up.

Thats how important a minister position is.

Dont say need 5 years experience la, hari ni kawin esok beranak. Those are bullshit excuses. A minister position is not a place to gain experience. For such an important position, they should know how to their job from day 1.
