If you mentioned the above then you don't really understand fundamentals of art.

True if you can draw or paint will give you an advantages, going to school will teach you that n if you practice hard you may be able to draw and paint.

After that graduate and find a job .. if luck and talent and skills good will end up in Pixar or big companies.. If not so good become freelance..

If you view the process of art design this way then you forever stuck in doing this cycle of "art".
Art is very subjective in fact so much definition, but art itself is a process. I have friends who are in CSM of RCA doing Fine art masters level but they cant draw properly like animation level of drawing + coloring.

But they are able to make art and sell them hopefully in the future. People are keen on your process.

If jackson pollock first painted his artwork do people understand what it truly meant until they studied his process and discipline in his work.

yeah, well it happened when I was 18, now that im a decade over that age I realized about hardwork, dream all these kind of things where, teenagers or young adults wont understand.

I love all these art and design software
I love photoshop, illustrator anything
im down to learning them and start exploring shits

ultimately I really joined AD school before purely because of interest, and the fact that I wanted to learn how to create a website
cause another thing I like is coding

I'm in linguistics field now,
and we had subjects that require us to do coding and designing too

actually I love to incorporate my interest of language and AD together

Your lecturer did all those because their duty is fully equip you to enter into big companies for illustration, design, conceptual development and etc..

All those lesson equip you generally only, whether you excel in one area over another depends on your interest and discipline...

Like i said, art is subjective if you know what you want to do and the process to achieve it .. anyone can make art without going to proper art school. This ideology is pretty simple but yet creates many trashy artist but hey ones man rubbish is another mans treasure.

lol but im still at school doing my degree weiii
like my lecturers mostly treat me like adult aka old people
but when im with these kids who are in their early 20s nobody believe im almost 30 so that's good 

but one good thing about starting late than never is that when you are at this age and you still push yourself doing diploma and degree,
you learn to understand the importance of why you should work hard and not wasting your life like those in 20s living in their carefree life
you start to be more responsible and see your aim clearly lah

so even though I started late I still feel grateful I got this valuable lesson
I will finish and graduate when im 30, literally lol

but I think I wont stop there, I will push myself all the way to PHD, god will.

yeah, but in Art school you are forced to learn how to draw, how to colour, how to snap photo, how to create own storyline and video
I quitted second semester when I had to take video production
not only don't have fund to buy a camera equipped with video capturing function
but you have to draw the story board wtf
and my lecturer is this no nonsense person who think every art and design student should know how to draw
obviously that's my tipping point lah

well im 30, and im also still continuously to learn about art.
