I have to agree with this. the hypocrisy of a group of people here are apparent. Jawi is just a set of alphabet, it is in fact more cultural that the issue at hand here.

Muslims are not allowed to celebrate other people's cultural festivities; these are the prerogative of the Muslims. I do not understand why the non-Muslims are using this as a political tool.

JAKIM is well qualified to come up with guidelines for the Muslims, they are doing their job and responsibilities in coming out with this directive. Islam is the official religion of the country, despite some people arguing that Malaysia is not an Islamic country:

"The constitution makes Malaysia a secular country and guarantees freedom of religion, while establishing Islam as the "religion of the Federation" to symbolise its importance to Malaysian society." Source

You cannot force other communities to accept your cultures, it is a decision set by JAKIM, the authoritative of the Muslims. As it is, it seem that people like you are the ones that are trying to divide the Muslims, in doubting the sanctity of JAKIM as the representative of Islamic authority in Islam. It is not uncommon for enemies of Islam to divide the Muslims by attacking all levels of the institution.

You are making your own imaginary situations about communities 'forced' to share cultures with each other? Dafuk? biggrin.gif Were you 'forced' to celebrate festivals of other faiths? someone put a gun to your head to sing carols in a church? The only thing that's forced upon us, its that everyone kena cuti on that day. But hey! if you feel forced into holidaying to celebrate other festivals that you feel is not relevant to your religion, you are FREE TO WORK ON ALL THOSE DAYS. thumbup.gif

Are you really in real or just wake up and just comment? Let take into this situation.

School want to celebrate the Pongal.
Jakim said Muslim cannot celebrate Pongal.
Ministry ask Muslim student to not celebrate Pongal based on Jakim decision.
Ministry ask Muslim student to respect other cultures.
Ramasamy butthurt, say this is culture not religion.

So here again, do you understand the context?

Nope not scared. The only scared people here are you. Just because the organization with the Islamic authority that is JAKIM is telling you that Muslims are not supposed to celebrate the cultures of other people, you go gaga about it. You are being divisive by attacking the sanctity of Jakim, because you want Muslims to be weak and divided.

You are not very sharp, you are mistaking a holiday with a forced celebration. It is the Muslims prerogative to not celebrate other people's culture, but you are acting as if Jakim is trampling over your rights when they are telling doing their job by taking care of the Muslims. As the enemy of Islam, it is not surprising that some people are getting pissed off when Jakim is doing their job.
