Renting is fine if you can move anywhere you like. But for those who have a preference for a particular area, it is better if you can buy, renovate it to last for the long stay. When the property rush comes back, the price will move very fast for preferred areas.

An apartment would be pretty run down 15-20 years in time, not to mention it was the owner who bear maintenance and repair cost.
Even you renovate it the outside appearance and facility will deteriorate.

If apartment rent better since there are always new and better project development.

everything will run down in 20 years time

Renting is much lower risk and less stress. Example my condo area suddenly construct a flyover highway between condos.

Some condo owners want to sell due to noise of construction and damaged road but no takers. Props price dropped around the area. As a tenant, I can simply move to another area hahaha.

In today’s market you can rent much2 cheaper than mortgage, even lower than mortgage interest payment.. if you know where to look, 2mm house can rent for 5-6k..

e.g. 2mm house mortgage installment ~12k over 20 years, rental 7k.. The 5k difference can invest in other assets with possible better returns / better liquidity

Maintainance (eg pipe rosak, atap bocor, autogate rosak etc), cukai tanah etc landlord settle .. of course depends on luck getting good landlord lah
