QUOTE(koja6049 @ Jan 12 2020, 04:28 PM) tbh, sg also have their own "bumi" policy. Same with Hong KongI work there before, sometimes damn piss to see incompetent locals rise up to the same rank as you, but know nothing, and push their job to you, expect you to kaodim everything. the only "expats" they worship are the whites, they can do no wrong. Sometimes they also do no work and get paid |

QUOTE(feynman @ Jan 12 2020, 03:24 PM) There are 2 groups of msians working in SG....... let me tell you why suddenly they have this policy.1st group - those who are there as banglas........you do menial labour and get paid a singaporean bangla wage, but go back to JB and kaya raya......RM 6k to 9k sebulan. Some of them can still hold on to their jobs only if those jobs are not automated. Singaporeans do not want to do bangla jobs unless they do not have a choice - the aged, the ones without any skills. 2nd group - those who are there as executives i.e. "expat". These people compete with the best in the world and if they are hired, it's because they have skills that the company needs. No matter how the government changes the rules, these people will be least affected as long as they are still valued in the firm. People like this would include, lawyers, experienced engineers, senior management of companies - SM's/directors and above, management consultants, senior bankers, senior professional service providers. This group of people is very mobile, they can find themselves working in HK, in Australia, in Europe or North America when the opportunity is given. between now until next year april must have elections |

QUOTE(rooney723 @ Jan 12 2020, 04:21 PM) u forgot the 3rd group - the uni freshies or young executives that go work in SG to get the x3 SG dollars, these people directly competes with SG people for the jobs, and their skills are easily replaceable by SG people too, but companies hire them because they are slightly cheaper to hire and more hardworking than SG people and can be easily exploited to work more for lesser pay compared to SG people, this group doesnt have the ability to work in australia europe america etc yet and they are the least secure group Yes, you are right. Having said that this group should work in KL first for 3-5 years, then move to SG with some work experience. When in SG, be a bit abrasive, other will kena tekan. QUOTE(koja6049 @ Jan 12 2020, 04:28 PM) tbh, sg also have their own "bumi" policy. Fair, this is where you need to show how big your penis is. I work there before, sometimes damn piss to see incompetent locals rise up to the same rank as you, but know nothing, and push their job to you, expect you to kaodim everything. the only "expats" they worship are the whites, they can do no wrong. Sometimes they also do no work and get paid It's ok to be abrasive and if you have to throw an angmoh under the bus, do it. Local SG people worship angmoh because capable Msians do not assert themselves. It's ok to be a bit of an asshole, We msians are encumbered by a broken system, but those of us who are capable are far more capable than the SG people....given that we did not have any mollycoddling from the government. And yes, assert yourself as an expat. Party like one, behave like one. It's fair game. The benefit of msians is that we can economise when we need to, we can live cheaply and we can live extravagantly. |

I was looking at a few job ads in Singapore and noticed this :
1. Ads on LinkedIn or Glassdoor reroute to a Singaporean website https://www.mycareersfuture.sg 2. To login to https://www.mycareersfuture.sg/, you need a SingPass 3. To get a SingPass, you need either of the following (quoted from http://www.ifaq.gov.sg/SINGPASS/apps/Fcd_f...x#FAQ_2101385): QUOTE Singapore Citizen and Permanent Resident Employment Pass and Personalised Employment Pass holders EntrePass holders S-Pass holders Dependant Pass holders (of EP, PEP, EntrePass and S-Pass holders) Long Term Visit Pass-Plus (LTVP+) holders Long Term Visit Pass holders Selected Work Permit Holders who require SingPass to access government digital services. Visit WPOL Enquiry Service to check your status. |

QUOTE(arsenwagon @ Jan 12 2020, 03:51 PM) It's been going on for a while Liao, ppl not happy bcoz their uni top in world but end up hiring third world country grads Normal. Not only in SIngapore.Like the recent case a big investment bank hired a ceca who grad from duno what uni to become big manyzer, then the guy Bodo go scold the security guard who was a local. Then kena viral. He didn't learn from an angmoh expat who got fired because he mocked locals Naik mrt while he drove Merc around. In Asia angmoh is still worshipped by the kampung folks (that means 99% of msian), even angmoh fart also smell nicer. |
