May I know How to check ownership history on a used car? For example, how many ex-owners for a particular used car?

Whenever there was a car ownership transfer, the Vehicle Ownership Certificate (VOC) will only show the new owner info, right?

But last time i saw a car dealer showing me a white sheet of paper stating the past two owners name and address... but I didn't ask him where he got it...

Right now gotta be careful for those insurance total loss cars.
Some of the newer cars are deemed to be too expensive to repair by official service center. So those became total loss cars

Later, outside workshop repaired it and sell as used cars.

To me those are more risky and must check for those type of cars

You have to go back to JPJ for information. If not another way is to go back to the car original service center to trace back previous owner information. Usually 1st car owner can be trace back, if 2nd will hard a bit.

What I did before I bought a 1-year old used car was to call the brand HQ call center to inquire on its previous services done. e.g. what type of service was done, was the service done on time, which service center, etc.

The customer service rep was very helpful and provided the details except personal information. In my case it was a Nissan. U may try ur luck for older cars.

Some service centers don't link their database. For example, if the previous owner servicing its car in kl and u can't find the info in johor...it all depends on luck...
