Hi guys, I have 10 months contract left with this Celcom Timur Sabah infra 20Mbps and applied to relocate to a new place that has only TM infra.

They forced me to switch to TM infra with package that is more expensive and renew contract for 24 months again.

I feel like it's quite unfair to me, it is a standard thing where new location don't have celcom infra then they forced you to switch to TM infra with higher package and renew contract?

relocate shouldn't reset contract, but since you effectively moving to the whole different service it's not unexpected if it must involve termination first.
I think this is an outlier case, you need to talk to higher cs. if you just ask at counter or 1st level cs they will just give you canned response.

The customer service did tell me that they would terminate my account first then only sign up a new service with Celcom that is using Unifi infrastructure.

So basically, it means they forced me to take the new 24 months of contracts and pay RM200 if wanted to relocate, or else I would need to pay the RM500 to terminate the service.

Thanks for your reply and I had just lodged a complain to MCMC. Hopefully everything goes well.

If worse to worse, any celcom home fibre package that using TM infrastructure is worth to subscribe?

depends on your previous experience?
Fiber infra is just a physical medium; since last mile degradation is pretty much eliminated with fiber, performance characteristics would be exactly same since it connects through same gateway (AS10030).

Understood! Thanks for your help, mate!

Seemed like I have no choice but to surrender myself in and sign up another 24 months contract for RM80 for 30Mbps with Celcom.

I recently ported to Celcom Home Fibre 30Mbps/30Mbps plan that using unifi Infrastructure.

They provide me with this equipment.

Router : Shenzen Skyworth Digital Tech RN685
Modem : ZTE ZXHN F620

I tried to use both LAN and Wi-Fi setup, I never achieve the speed of 30Mbps.

Always hovering about 24-25Mbps for download and very low 10-20Mbps uploading speed.

May I know is it normal?

That is not normal. You should lodge report to Celcom and if not solve, escalate the report to MCMC. Although TM is known for capping the speed of their competitors, you should still get near to 30mbps especially testing with lan cable.
Call their customer service to request.

Thanks for your reply YoungMan!

I had lodged a complaint to Celcom but they keep tell me that speed could fluctuate depends on network congestion in my area.

Any idea usually TM would cap to how many % of the speed of my package?

I just want to share this with you, I visited my SIL in BM during CNY her Unifi 30mbps package was slow and I speed tested it and it was below 30mbps. I’m afraid I can’t remember the exact speed. FYI I was the only person using at that time.

Thank you very much for your sharing! I really appreciate your helping!

I had lodge a complain to Celcom and hopefully the problem able to resolved real soon. They were rather slow as need to wait for unifi technician to rectify the problem as well. doh.gif doh.gif

Wondering whether your SIL able to get his subscribed speed in the end?
