Hi, as titled. I just change my front tyres to PS4 for RM400/donut but feels like its too expensive since I’m not driving in race tracks.

Did someone tell you PS4 is only meant for race tracks? shakehead.gif

Hahaha my exact same question!

My next point is.... there's no such thing as Budget Performance because 'Budget' & 'Performance' doesn't goes well together. They HATE each other.
If you want Performance.... you can forget about Budget
If you want Budget.... you can kiss Performance good bye....

Well the V12E2 is kinda budget UHP tire but not quite PS4 level and not many other which offers similar performance at such price level.

Nevertheless.... I really hope people will change their mindset about Performance tire.... Having Performance tire doesn't mean that you can & have to drive fast in corner & etc. I prefer to think of Performance tire offered you more in terms of safety because it has better grip... better breaking distance & etc. All these give you better safety margin compared to those normal tire out there. The ability to stop the car (in emergency situation) even in a few feet makes a HUGE difference.

The amount of money that you save from getting a budget tire.... Is it really worth it to the safety of the people in the car? The life of your family members & love one? You'll be the judge of that...

I'm not here to discourage people in getting budget tire.... I just want people to understand the 'importance' of tire and what is their role. They are the most importance component on a car because that is what in between your car & the road.

As for budget performance,  manufacturers can claim certain models to be high performance but in reality they might not live up to it, so it's just marketing ploy. Many of these so called high performance tires from low end brands even loose to mid range performance tires of top brands. So be mindful when considering tires from low end brands, don't just believe what they claim to be.

I second to that....

Which Hankook? I am on my second d set of V12E2 and no such issues. PS3/4 though had a lot of chipping when driven hard, more so than others eventhough performance still good in such condition.

Its pretty normal to have chipping & minor cracking on the tires (especially those tire more than 3 years & above) due to the road tarmac condition and the hot weather in Malaysia..... sad.gif

But PS3/4 and also F1D5 are much worse. Continental CSC/ECS, F1A2, RE003, V12E2 are much less.

Hard to say.... but i'm pretty sure the tire construction compound also plays a role as well
