Exterior beauty is not the only criteria that make ones' a winner. To me, all of the participants have put on a lot of effort for this event. Each of them deserves to be King and Queen.

Picture skills and quality wise, not that good. Effort is good though. You need an external flash.

haha, thanks for the comment. notworthy.gif the angle wasn't that good coz i was taking those pictures seated behind a row of guest and also judges sad.gif. Wouldn't dare to move around coz the front row was dominated by professional videographers and crewmembers. so i just remain seated at my place and tried to snap a few pictures whenever i see a gap through the heads of the ppl in front of me. sweat.gif .

there should be no fear to go out and shoot, there are always people has better gears than us, so no need to shoot pic? No la, just shoot at your own style... frankly most of your pic looked good as still sharp and not blur compare to others. Shooting event like this is not easy.

I think you just need to find a better place to shoot.

And ya, you need a more powerful flash...and some fine tune on your WB. A bit over reddish...

TARC In KL? Never has such event during my time.... doh.gif

Hmm pretty average to me, unless if u able to stand at a good location maybe the composition of the pics can be improved. I may suggest consider increasing the ISO might help, say to ISO800.

Seriously i didnt know KTAR has too much ah bengs around, all like 10 guys 8 fellas have the same long hair emo haircut sweat.gif

ISO can't be boosted anymore. All of them are taken at ISO1600. Limitation on lens and the absence of a Speedlight.

aih, yalor, very cham. Lens limitation. I only got D40 kit lens and also a 55-200VR. Don't even have an external flash. No money leh. But anyway, I think i need to improve on my camera holding skills coz i think my shots are blur because of handshake. My hands tend to tremble whenever I want to take a fast snapshot to capture the moment. This happens mostly when i take pictures of events coz I wont have the luxury to take my time and compose my shots nicely. Hmmm..think I need more practice.

hey man, as i said, the pics are better than many people on this performance shot. If you had experience to shoot this kind of event you will know.

No external flash or flash power not enough, end up you will have slower shutter, and tends to have more blur pic...I do see some of the pics considered sharp.

My glass still fine and I know how will be a new guy shooting the indoor performance as I had experienced that before. I am encouraging a new member here to go up front to shoot, so next time could be better and sharper.

Ya.. I always missed class..... blush.gif but still can find a job. sweat.gif

garyoew, so all ur pics were taken using ur 55-200? Well that lens is good but provided u stand nearer and strategically ur composition should be improved. That is why u must fight n squench with the other photographer crowd! tongue.gif

There is another work around without a Speedlight in this condition. Set to shutter priority and adjust according to your focal length. Then bump up the exposure compensation if underexposed. It is better to have underexposed pictures than blurred pictures.

There isn't any other photographer there to fight and squench, coz none are allowed to go upfront to shoot. cry.gif That's why I so cham sitted at my own chair and try to shoot through the gap between the guests' heads. I moved my body so much with the bulky DSLR, I think I've annoyed the person sitting beside and behind me LOL tongue.gif

Ok, I'll try that next time when i shoot indoors. Thanks. And hey, i was using the Olympus C-750 also before i bought the Nikon D40. haha. I bought it for RM 1900 last time from pertama komplex few years ago. Nice camera, but the noise level on ISO400 taken in lowlight memang banyak noisy.

I am still using that camera since I bought it 4 years ago. You need to understand your camera and find workarounds on its weaknesses. I rarely shoot at ISO200 and above and have bought an external flash to assist in taking low light pictures. Do visit my galleries and you will know what it is capable of. You might want to play with it again if you hadn't sold it off. icon_idea.gif

Nice close ups, but the lighting's a lil funny... must be the environment.

I've always wanted to show my support but never been able to come to her shows and take photos~
