Do you all just cycle on the road only? Or stick to the bicycle lane if any? But they always end out of nowhere.
*
It depends. Penang has bicycle lane but they're not suited for RB since the surface isn't exactly smooth. They're usually filled with people doing leisure cycling & jogging so if you're cycling with kids or family, then bicycle lane is your best choice.

Else just cycle on the road.

Seems like cycling is back in the menu for states that successfully transition to phase 2.

What grease do you guys use for the seat post & pedals? Previously I used Park Tool Polylube 1000 but seems like it's sold out everywhere now so gotta look for alternatives.

Carbon or alu?

Alu. Just alternate grease to PPL-1 Polylube 1000.

Been some time since I joined a cycling event & was looking forward to this one. However, with the recent daily cases trending upwards, I guess I'll have to give it a miss.

even if solo ride u still pass by other ppl...
unless u r like gkl83 who ride at 5am

i used to ride alone until water took away my fav place.
*
I think a few seconds of close proximity is safe. But then again, I ride out at 6am & Penang island has less cyclists than you guys at Selangor / KL there.

But hey, in the end, you do you, not trying to convince you or anything ya.

Question: how does one go about getting a saddle? Just go into the shop & pray for luck or do they have sample saddle for loan? Asking because I'm fully aware how saddle is one of those very subjective thing which work for some but might not work for others.

Previously some Fizik dealers (e.g.: Rodalink) had test saddles but nowadays I'm not sure.  hmm.gif

Thanks for this image. Checked with Rodalink Penang & they do have fizik demo saddles. Just gotta drop by the outlet to check what they have available.

Bike fitters could also suggest a saddle that might be suitable for you. Mine recommended a few for me and I basically look around for used ones to try it. Managed to get a 2nd hand one and feel good with the recommendation
*
Yea, if I'm on RB then would definitely engage a fitter but since it's just a fixed gear, I don't want to spend too much on it.

Nothing major, just that some lines have each name tagged with bold individually, some lines all the names are tagged into a single bold tag-pair.

Goodyear was a decent pair too... but wear off really fast. (like 2000km or so)- and keep having lots of puncture. Their puncture resistant is really low. Watch the Allen Boey trip to Penang- once of the guy was having 4X puncture using Goodyear and curse like mad.
*
Thanks for the video recommendation. I knew Quek rode to Penang but didn't know there was videos about it. As a Penangite, it's always nice to see outsiders enjoy their time here even though I've used the same routes for so many times. Watching it on video is really different than riding the route myself.

Question: any of you carry a 15mm wrench in your tool bag when out cycling? If yes, any recommendation for said 15mm wrench?

I've been bringing around a cone wrench but I doubt it's sturdy enough for either pedal or wheel axle nut. I have a pedal wrench at home but it's too big to carry along so looking for recommendation.

No and I dun see the point in doing so.

Why not switching both your pedals that uses hex wrench and axle to quick release?

I'm guessing this bike's original budget setup...
*
Partially right. I'm riding a fixed gear so no QR for my rear wheel. Therefore, I don't see the point to upgrade front wheel to QR either.

Hey.. Roadbike cyclist here that came from MTB biker?
Do you get puncture on your road bike very often? like almost 1 every 5 rides.
*
That's way too frequent for me but then again, gotta see what's the mileage for each ride. If you rode like 200KM each ride then 1 puncture for every 5 rides sound logical.

Not a pro cyclist, we only covers about 50km each ride..
Never had a puncture on mtb, just wonder why it is so frequent on roadbike

What tyre? Goodyear? Maybe the route you guys use has a lot of potholes or sharp debris?
