How does the Wiggle/PBK free shipping was to Malaysia? Took long time and did you got hit by import taxes?

I did use them previously in another country which is good deal compared to the local LBS as long one willing to wait for free shipping (took like under one month to reach me) not sure about Malaysia since they kind of like make second tier country as compare to Thailand or Singapore.
Previously using GP4Ks ii when GP5k is not existed. But now using Pirelli P zero Velo due to the classic colour devil.gif paid for it like rm200 as i buy from physical store and ask them to install for me
*
about 2-3 weeks. wiggle need to spend more, depending on currency rate might hit rm500 so the risk of getting taxed is there. but out of 10 orders, 5 were above rm500, but only 3 got taxed. bought a bike from wiggle GBP999 =rm6k, GST 6%. smart trainer from chainreactioncycles gbp500 =rm3k no gst but pay rm18 for customs declaration form, 1 from silca USD200 kena import and sales tax rm200, that one most sakit hati. usually i buy clothes, tyres, lights, cleats, bar tape and nutrition, try to keep it as close to rm500 as possible. wiggle has tracking, PBK no tracking so just wait la haha.

that said, friend bought 4 tyres 1 shot, got held by customs, needed to go declare, they thought he wanted to resell lol. same fella also bought powder energy drink 3x 2.2kg, got held, needed to bring sample to lab to test make sure it wasnt any drugs. I've been mostly lucky I guess

Ah got it, too bad most bike stuff are more than RM500 icon_question.gif

So when kena tahan you need to go old LCCT there to do the paper to get item released?

The place i am based had equivalent of AUD1k before it was being taxed. So I managed to get lots of stuff below that value unlike small RM500 threshold here. Got once kena taxed (non cycling stuff) due to exceed that amount but it was quick and painless as they send mail to me telling item being held for tax and just head to the web-page to complete the payment & admin fee.

I remember it is quick process, just need to wait their version of poslaju to complete the last min delivery.
*
yeah, they will call to offer to settle on behalf, but if want faster or save money just go straight to LCCT. usually under half an hour, the travel itself is the big time consuming part lol. ya, few years ago rm500 can get quite a lot of stuff, nowadays everything more expensive. havent bought energy or recovery drink powder or any gels anymore cos price had gone up

why is it so hard to find aluminium disc road bike fork? all i can find on the internet are carbons
*
why specifically need alu disc fork? I think cos alu transfers more vibrations and shock, even cheap road bikes alu frame also use carbon forks to tune the layup and have a bit of vibration dampening. usually see mtbs or town bikes with alu forks, rigid or with suspension

right now im riding a single speed road bike (actually a fixie with freewheel)

so, i wanted to have a disc brake instead of rim brake

already purchased a carbon fork on shopee, but wasnt sure it would be good enough..looks too, fragile  sweat.gif
*
oh, so going for mtb style brake levers without shifters? tried BBS? try 29" wheel forks if really cannot find alu for 700c, as long as the bearing sizes are same should be ok, front might be abit taller than before though

slightly above 4k can consider reynolds ar58 or ar41 also. just under rm5k is ar41/58x with aero spokes, same rim and hubs if not mistaken

i personally tried hyper65 last weekend. it has such a smooth bearing...
for rm4.8k, it is worth the deal that you will not regret.

I will try on the hyper50 in a week or 2....

carbon spoke, ceramic hub bearings, comes with wide rim width.
what else you are waiting for ... ?

If want then better place order soon, next shipping is soon
*
tried in any crosswinds yet? if stable in crosswinds would be nice.

i've used reynolds assault 46mm old v shaped rims, swiss side hadron 62.5mm and reynolds ar58x, the swiss side was the most stable in crosswinds actually. shows how much the rim shape determines aero and stability rather than the height alone. also the reason I wont recommend lightweight meilenstein since its v shaped, go for the fernweg evo instead.

Isnt this the successor of Reynolds Attack/Assault Wheels (i seen these at my time of cycling)

Saw some shop selling around 4/5K which is quite competitive with the likes of Windspace wheels
Are you riding disk brake or rim brake version of winspace wheels?

I assume you are referring to their distributor Megabike who is official carrier of this brand. Saw it on their shopee shop.

Also saw winspace lun seems to be good deal too apart from normal CX spoke instead of carbon spoke but identical rim profile.
I am actually quite heavy at 70 KG plus the saddle bag & water bottle so overall weight will be heavier for sure, I do set my eye on 40-50mm profile as i mention early i prefer go big on carbon wheel with that profile range.

Actually for Malaysia, generally which brands/distributor are reliable when come to warranty/servicing/spare. I assume megabike can be one of the reliable guys as they do wheelbuilding/custom wheelbuilding in house.

No point buying cheap wheel if there non existent service and support.
*
yeah, i think the ar series replaces the assault. braking isnt the best, and need to use reynolds cryo blue power pads. tried with swiss stop black prince and the rims get super hot and braking power drops a lot when hot. other than that, not too bad, once ridden often enough got used to the braking, went up and down gohtong stuck behind slow traffic got abit hot but still had enough braking power. if ride lots of hills better go with disc or something that isnt reynolds haha.

Hello all, wanna start new hobby, where should I start looking for a bike? Preferably not something high end and fancy as I’m casual rider. Just wanna do something that makes me feel good overall. Any shop to recommend that will help me with my selection? Area is one utama/PJ area? Less than 2K would be nice.

Thanks!
*
PJ area try giant ss2, 2 shops beside it is bmc ss2, ksh ttdi, pedalspot taman bahagia, bikepro taman megah. but not sure if they have anything within your budget. can also browse around bicyclebuysell.com also

Hi roadies,

I'm curious and keen to try the Goodyear F1 supersport tubeless, as I read its radical in its double bead design which makes seating the bead very easy with just track pump or handpump.

I am very new on tubeless, and I'm currently on giant gavia tubeless, and I think that tire is tough to install and uninstall shall I ever needed.

Has anyone with real world experience using this Goodyear F1 tubeless, and share if its really a game changer tubeless?

Thanks.
*
I'm assuming you are on Giant wheels and rims? Usually its the combination of tyre and rim that makes installation and removal easy or tough, tubeless more so. I dont have experience with Giant, but used swiss side tubeless ready, mavic clincher, reynolds assault 40mm clincher and reynolds ar58x tubeless ready with clincher tyres pirelli p zero velo, sworks turbo (not cotton), conti gp4000, bontrager r4, michelin power competition, challenge strada, no tubeless ready one. I find continental gp4000 when new quite a bitch to install and remove but easier after a few times, challenge strada a bitch with all rims. swiss side easy to install and remove with all tyres, reynolds tubeless ready quite tough, tyre bead gets stuck in the channel in the middle of the rim bed. happened with friend's enve rim also so not exactly uncommon lol.

unfortunately I dont have experience with goodyear or giant wheels so I cant really help.

Yeah..on SLR1 giant wheels and giant tubeless tires. Just want some feedback on real life experiences of forum mates on this Goodyear tyre.
Lots of horror tales I have read on running tubeless when fails.
*
by fail, you are referring to leaks that arent sealed, or tyre unseating from rim, or a nightmare to install and remove? got different levels of fails hahaha. i would just try it out, then change further down the road if its too troublesome lol.

Hi all, what brand of Road bike that you’d recommend to a newbie (me) who’s looking to start cycling as a new hobby? Some of my basic infos:

Height: 177cm
Weight: 75cm
Preference: Road bikes / gravel bikes
Budget: < MYR 1500 (I want to give cycling a try before proceeding to better bikes)

From what i researched online, I don’t really see any bikes that fall into my budget range besides than the ones in decathlon... Thus asking opinions / recommendations here from all the sifus biggrin.gif (if anyone wants to sell their rb for cheap cheap, i wouldn’t mind too!!)
*
try here, maybe got luck once in awhile someone posts something cheap https://bicyclebuysell.com/

for starters i would recommend something used, can buy cheap and sell back at same price if you decide cycling isnt for you. buy new when sell would lose abit of money.

found out from FB group @leinnz passed away earlier today, RIP and condolences to the family cry.gif bye.gif

no confirmation of cause of death though

check this thread especially the older versions, was quite active, been riding road and mtb for quite a long time, Malaccan, helped with ECC Environmental Cycling Club that used to organise Burung hantu night jamboree event

Because there was a video shared in Whatsapp last week of a guy who was cycling on a roadbike collapsing at the side of the road in front of a guardhouse (can see the boom gate). Might it be the same person?

asked another friend who was classmates with his brother, suspected cardiac arrest

I went to KSH TTDI. Surprisingly the prices are very affordable even for road bikes for beginners, starting around RM3K, which surprised me cause I expected to start around RM5K or so.

In my case, since I'm just cycling leisurely and will be sharing with my mom who is in her 60s. They suggested that I take MTB (also affordable and cheap) since it's more stable and I don't want my mom to fall later incase she runs over some sand and stones or water or just slippery areas. Overall satisfied with their services. Maybe in the future, I will get a road bike personally cause it's so lightweight! (tested one).
Thank you for the recommendations!

I'm assuming geometric brand? their in house brand

ask the shop if the groupset is ok, and peek at the workshop area see if the mechanic is fixing any bikes using the sensah groupset lol.

Do you all just cycle on the road only? Or stick to the bicycle lane if any? But they always end out of nowhere.

Its the same with other place as well.

In Australia you have to follow the traffic rules (follow the traffic light & speed limit especially on downhill part) or else get ready to pay AUD300 for tickets.

Their drivers are not the most friendly bunch either.

My place is main road so I will try cycle as early as possible to minimize risk from the traffic, since its local road that drive daily so i do remember which part of the road is okay and which part is not (that mean i need to swerve to middle to of the road to avoid pothole/puddle
Hah i did ask about it and they keep assuring me all is covered for this groupset. biggrin.gif
*
covered is ok, but if problematic wanna go back to shop multiple times damn annoying haha. if often go to the workshop area at bike shop can usually find out what the common issues are lol. but groupsets are usually robust, should be ok.

yeah. I heard sram and campagnolo parts also abit hard to find. friend crashed and his campagnolo shifter was damaged, took over a month for shop to source parts. sram parts mostly dependant on pedalspot, shimano more common. online overseas can find parts but since 2020 everything became rare lol.

hey guys, between road clip shoes and mtb clip shoes, which one is better?

i ride single speed bike (road) which usually around town and often stop..

does unclipping a road clip is harder than mtb clip?
*
if you are riding for short distances mtb enough, road has bigger platform so more comfortable less pressure under the foot at the cleat area. mtb cleats last longer if you unclip often, road ones quite soft
