QUOTE(timidandslow @ Dec 21 2019, 09:32 PM) chateu this , lafite that, rothschild jews did this Actually you can taste the difference between $50 and $500 on the first sip.wtf is this pretentious shit? did you know that most laymen can't tell the difference between a $50 and $500 bottle of wine in a blind taste test? hahaha bloody snobs If the range is closer then the difference may be harder to ascertained. Although generic as it may seem but there are differences. Clearly from your photos you’re whisky person we will miss our points when discussing. Also, you sure can find difference between a Karuizawa 35 and the cheaper whisky. As an eg. |

wall of text QUOTE(hksgmy @ Dec 21 2019, 06:13 PM) Sorry, unker had a busy day today - unexpected medical emergency, which took up ½ my morning, so my other outpatients kena backlogged. Anyway, now back home, and I have access to my laptop again, so I can post pictures (which I find myself enjoying doing). Here's how I reduce stress: and more wall of text![]() ![]() Two of my favourite Bordeaux wines - both from Yahudi appellations. We usually buy them ex-Chateau, au premier - which gives us a good price, but also invokes a higher overall cost (because I can't buy just the one or two bottles). We usually buy by either ½ or the full dozen. Both these Rothschilds are rated hundred pointers. QUOTE(hksgmy @ Dec 21 2019, 09:44 PM) Anyway, to continue on ladytarot99’s theme: Tonight's was a sumptuous dinner, to make up for the torrid morning session at the surgery. Wife felt like she needed to unwind, and so we brought along a bottle of the 2009 Mouton (this by far, was our favourite vintage - 2009 was an excellent Bordeaux harvest, bar none) and headed over to our favourite rubber man 3 star-rated restaurant... Please pardon the quality of the photos - half the time I forgot I needed to take photographs and had already chomped into the meal in front of me before I remembered, and also, this is the first time I'm posting from my iphone. One of the starters (the other was something else that I swallowed before the camera was whipped out, sorry): this was small little potatoes dressed with some herbs and edible flowers and topped with a more than generous serving of caviar: ![]() Followed by an additional dish (they call it a supplement to the prepared menu) - langoustine. It's a succulent, juicy, super tender version of lobster: ![]() I know we had foie gras before the langoustine and something else after, but again, my mouth was faster than my finger, so sorry, no pictures. The main course - Omi Wagyu beef, medium rare... It. Simply. Melts. In. Your. Mouth... ![]() Desert soon followed the palate cleanser and ice-cream (which again, I forgot to take photos of): ![]() Finally, the bill... for a table of two: ![]() Not a bad way to end the work week - and I have my Hakone holiday to look forward to next! QUOTE(hksgmy @ Dec 21 2019, 11:24 PM) so tell me again who is doing all thr talking? |

QUOTE(timidandslow @ Dec 21 2019, 11:53 PM) thec real irony is you think you are being ironic when you are actually being smug and giving yourself a pat on the back. You mentioned that whiskey can be differentiated but wine cannot. the picture below suits you to a T QUOTE (timidandslow @ Dec 21 2019, 11:08 PM) Thats exactly my point. there is always a huge difference in the taste between a expensive n cheap whisky, but that's not always the case with wine That assertion reeks of ignorance and frankly, makes you even more stupid than you’ve already so aptly demonstrated thus far. If you don’t even know acerbity when it slaps you in the face by your own hand and your own doing, then truly, irony is wasted on you. |

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, the prosecution rests. hahaha you snobbish bastard, looks like neither law nor wine tasting is your forte. if you were prosecuting for the attorney general, najib would be freed of all charges by now. are all the Singapore foreign talent physicians so deluded to think that they are better qualified than actual wine judges? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blind_wine_tasting [ Some blinded trials among wine consumers have indicated that people can find nothing in a wine's aroma or taste to distinguish between ordinary and pricey brand ] This post has been edited by timidandslow: Dec 22 2019, 12:32 AM |

Amazing. In order to bolster your tenacious grip on whatever fast-fading self respect and relevance, you trawl through google and Wikipedia for any snippet that can make you feel semi-important and appear quasi-knowledgeable. Real research isn’t about a tasty sound bite.
If you can’t afford to drink good wine, there’s really no need to disparage others who can - and enjoy doing so. I’d say this: don’t diss it until you’ve had an opportunity to taste it. I didn’t when you struggled to back up your proof of RM300,000 in FD (although in the end it was someways short of the claimed amount) - and frankly, I’m disappointed you didn’t apply the same goodwill to this discussion. I guess you only wish to listen to the sound of your own voice more than to the voice of reason. |

Real research isn’t about a tasty sound bite. hello mr physician, its a well known fact that most laymen fail to differentiate between cheap wines and expensive wines during blind tests. why are you even disputing this? If you can’t afford to drink good wine, there’s really no need to disparage others who can - and enjoy doing so. I’d say this: don’t diss it until you’ve had an opportunity to taste it. I didn’t when you struggled to back up your proof of RM300,000 in FD (although in the end it was someways short of the claimed amount) - and frankly, I’m disappointed you didn’t apply the same goodwill to this discussion. I guess you only wish to listen to the sound of your own voice more than to the voice of reason. if your palate is able to differentiate then props to you. but if you claim to be a man of science then you should not dismiss numerous research and articles. what are your credentials to dispute the evidence at hand? are you a renowned wine tester or soommelier? no you are a physician and therefore a layman. in summary you didn't do your home work and now try to make it personal.
