One of my relatives works in one of Malaysia's biggest construction companies.
One of the big finance taikors in there does very little work. He comes in a few hours a day, signs some documents and cheques, chit-chat around a bit, and then buggers off for the day.
He is paid at least RM50K per month. He doesn't surface for high-profile, name-on-the-line stuff.
Everyone in finance wants his job - where can you get such high-paying, low responsibility, low risk kind of work?
People made some inquiries as to why such a person could hold such a job at such a pay level.
Turns out he was one of the "old warriors in the founding team" under the original founder of the company. One of the founder's trust lieutenants and henchmen back in the old struggling days, who stood by his side through thick and thin. He may not be able or want to perform to a very high, technical level nowadays, but the founder isn't going to forget his services, so this cushy job is his reward for his loyalty and the highs and lows he went through with him (the founder).
