QUOTE(SubRoutine @ Nov 17 2020, 02:06 PM) Curious where you got your unit from, I gotta wait till end of December for mine. Congrats and enjoy your XSX bro! I grew up with a mindset that Japanese engineering is far superior than anything else on the market. Sony as a brand was cemented as some godlike engineering monolith in my mind. Let's see how my PS5 holds up later. Perhaps I gotta change my mindset and get with the times. Times have changed. I was actually a huge Sony supporter in the 90s and 2000s. And I don't mean Playstation. I would always choose a Sony over anything else. Walkman, TV, discman, home theater set. Samsung and Goldstar were just ok brands back then. It's a Sony after all. Goldstar is now LG, and together with Samsung, they pretty much are the market leaders in display technology. In Samsung's case they also became a huge mobile phone manufacturer. I couldn't have seen anything like this would happen. I'm not condemning Japanese engineering or anything. After all I like Japanese culture very much. I pretty much go there every year (except this year for obvious reasons). It's just that they have somehow lost their edge, while others continue to innovate.

QUOTE(andrewtho @ Nov 17 2020, 02:40 PM) Okay now we are on this topic, I have a burning question to ask - Would you rather buy a wireless gaming headphones that is XBOX optimized, or just use your standard headphones with Dolby Atmos for Headphones? I’m on the fence to fully experience this, although the standard headphones requires a 3.5mm connection, which means if I watch a movie / show on Netflix, my controller has to be ‘on me’. But are these ‘gaming headphones’ really worth it? I don't have a strong opinion either way, because most headphones just offer stereo sound. Wired or wireless. I forgot which exact headphone claims to offer Dolby Atmos support on Xbox or PC. Turns out the implementation still uses Dolby Access app. So in the end it's still software. The wireless headphones of course offer less hassle compared to wired. And if you have the Dolby Atmos for headphones app, it can still use Dolby Atmos for spatial sound. If you don't like being tethered to a wire while playing games or watching movies, wireless would be better.

QUOTE(yibaandre @ Nov 18 2020, 05:03 PM) would malaysia credit card works on microsoft store ? thanks They do. But sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I don't know how or why. I only have Maybank credit cards for example. I can use it to buy digital games and DLC for Xbox One and SOME 360 games, but I can't use it to buy original Xbox games. I have been trying to buy Panzer Dragoon Orta for many, many months but it never worked for me. In the end I just bought some gift cards for the US, redeemed it, then pay using the gift points. Then only it worked.

QUOTE(IccyAsd @ Nov 18 2020, 06:07 PM) Yes you can, on the Xbox console it self. i use Citibank with paypal, so far no issue yet since 2007. Are you buying those games through paypal? on xbox console? i know some of the earlier OG Xbox & 360 games have region lock. I also thought it might be region lock issue at first. But I can buy Panzer Dragoon Orta and also Ninja Gaiden Black using gift card. It just won't allow me to buy using credit card or Paypal. Not on the Xbox itself or PC. Not if my profile is set to Singapore or United States. Not if I'm using proxy solution to bypass geolocation. It just won't work for whatever reason.

QUOTE(IccyAsd @ Nov 18 2020, 09:25 PM) yeah on PC it will detect our region, hence the payment wont go through. same as PSN US wallet cannot accept local CC. that sounds about correct, the region lock comes in 3 parts back in 360 days, payment, start of download 1% & some games at the end of download 99% (COD). As long as you have the gift card it means you have the region currency so buying is not an issue, now on Xbox One the console it self is region free so the region lock for downloading may have not exist. Back then we had to use a PC with 2 lan port, setup internet connect sharing, connect VPN to get pass all that, because free VPN has limited bandwidth most ppl would just start download at 2% disconnect VPN, then connect back at 98% to complete the download, if you miss this step you have to redo it again. I still remember GH (Jason) helped me with COD zombie dlc download FOC. My old 360 was flashmodded, so I didn't really embrace digital games or DLC yet. But I do remember reading about the efforts to download stuff using VPN. Then a friend told me even modded consoles can go and play online. Then the great console ban happened and you know the rest.

QUOTE(IccyAsd @ Nov 19 2020, 08:31 AM) i believe many malaysian started with modded 360, its probably GH that introduce unmodded 360, my unit was bought from them in 2007-2008 i think? The sad thing is, GH really was the go-to shop during the 360/PS3 era. I got my first PS3 unit from them too. And despite owning a modded console, I did actually support originals on 360. My 360 games collection is bigger than my PS3 collection. This was the time when I seriously understood the impact software piracy has on game developers. GH and some other shops like Impulse became my places to buy games and accessories. It's actually sad now that we longer talk about GH in the same way...

QUOTE(ben3003 @ Nov 19 2020, 08:57 AM) i bought my xbox360 unmodded too from GH, that time their shop is in cineleisure. Was sold on gears of war, damn good game to play and split screen coop with my fren lol. Yup, at Cineleisure. I actually liked to lepak around Cineleisure back then. The cinema (when it was new) was awesome, GH was there for me to buy games, CWF was there for Bluray and HD DVD, and there were a lot of makan places for me to explore. GH wasn't acting like an ass yet at that time. Even if I wasn't buying anything, I could just go in and talk to Jason or the staff. They would even offer me to try out whatever games they were playing sometimes. Then within just a couple years of opening, the attitude slowly changed. The same Jason that I used to talk to, then just ignores me when I was looking for a game with my best friend's brother. He pretty much swore off GH because of that particular visit.

QUOTE(andrewtho @ Nov 19 2020, 09:01 AM) I guess during that time, only a handful of ‘genuine’ gamer shops were around, at that time many were smaller independent business. Time changed, most businesses emerged with better service and competitive pricing and digitalization also contributed to the shift of behavior as well. GH grew greedy, they knew they were the most popular shop around due to # of outlets = better reach for the audience, but they forgotten the most crucial element of running a business, service. This is a good lesson for GH, to not take their customers for suckers. But then again, GH will survive, Malaysians are fickle. One darn effective promotion and all is forgotten. For me, enough is enough - cancelled my PO for Series X with them. For now, I no longer wanna stress out over not getting the console before Xmas because I still have a console to play, will continue my FIFA FUT addiction until I get the Series X and move on Ah you ended up canceling with them. I understand why. The friend's brother in my previous post swore off GH more than a decade ago. I suppose I should probably do the same, but every once a while I might get something from them. They no longer get my exclusive business though. There are more places I can buy from these days.

QUOTE(TongCN @ Nov 19 2020, 10:23 AM) Lol .. good old time during 360 era XD I cant recall what's the shop name i bought my first modded 360 already during ... 2007 ? It was located in the Berjaya time square 4th floor if not wrong. Then after i start work, convert to PS3 genuine. But still bought Xbox 360 unmod years later together with Kinect which still working good until now Smartchoice Enterprise. I bought my 360 arcade from Keane when his shop was in Kota Raya. Then he moved to Berjaya Times Square. I rarely bought anything from him anymore by then though, mostly because of the online sellers like Impulse and Heavyarm. During the Super Street Fighter IV craze, I would always see him playing Fei Long online and tapau other players. His Fei Long is really scary, since he almost 100% can combo into rekka if he manages to footsie you. I know that high level players must have 100% execution ability if they want to land combos. Meanwhile I still sometimes whiff combos because my execution is not 100% haha.

QUOTE(Kidicarus @ Nov 19 2020, 10:07 AM) You're making me nostalgic for their old days. I used to go in lots to talk to Jason and Ed during the 360 era and they would always make time for me. I was quite a big customer then and they used to bring in everything. They have done quite a lot for the community in the past - like organising community events and high profile launches, that creates buzz which is great for gaming in general. When their curve branch closed down and they moved to the bigger malls, it became more difficult to visit the shop as often as i would like. For one the parking at the curve was much better than 1U. With all their different branches, i rarely saw them and in the xbox one era i went mostly digital and with the terrible stock for xbox at retail, i had even less reason to go visit GH. Having said that I don't blame them for pushing a bundle. If it's good value, then people will buy. After all, the PS5 is not exclusive from Gamers Hideout. But ihe bundle just looks like bad value with awful 3rd party trash. I thought the choice for the consumer would be, if it's bad value then don't buy from them and go to another retailer. Not buy from them and complain that you are getting bad value. I actually got the new mario game and watch as a Christmas present from my wife. She bought it from impulse - i think their advertised price was RM500 for a maxsoft set for something that costs USD50RRP. It's not something i would have bought for myself but I'm still annoyed with the price gouging on that. Yeah I feel nostalgic for that era too. I was only 26 then, not that much care in the world. I had an ok job but shitty pay, but I was happier then than I am now. I'm nearing my 40th birthday, and it's probably my world weariness showing through, but I long for those happier and simpler days. You're right, GH did a lot of good for the gaming scene. They held tournaments, launch events and even got some sponsorship deals. I can't find it anywhere now, but I remember someone asked Microsoft Malaysia if they would consider officially supporting Xbox 360 in Malaysia, using the GH events as example that we have a thriving Xbox scene here. Nothing happened out of it of course. Microsoft continues to ignore Malaysia until today.

QUOTE(ben3003 @ Nov 19 2020, 03:21 PM) this doesnt look like scalper, more like scammer to me Reminds me when Xbox 360 was launched in US. Some scalper was selling a "picture of an Xbox 360" for like USD500 or something like that on ebay or Craigslist. Someone bought it, and when he opened the packaging, sure enough it was a picture of an Xbox 360. Poor guy. He was scalped AND scammed at the same time.

QUOTE(ben3003 @ Nov 21 2020, 06:10 AM) My local game store quote me rm3999 for set coming from Europe 😅😅 I guess sarawak is worse than Indonesia. Europe sets are always more expensive. My OG Xbox One was purchased through a friend living in Ireland. Launch Xbox One price was USD499 or 2000 plus ringgit. But because the retail price in Europe was 499 Euro, the price was a few hundred ringgit more expensive than a US set. But that RM3999 price is absolutely ridiculous. Almost double the retail price in US.

QUOTE(Wijjog @ Nov 24 2020, 09:25 PM) I actually prefer the old triggers, dont really like the textured feel The D-pad are miles better though The perfect stock controller for me is actually the Xbox 360 controller, minus the D-pad. I've modded a couple of mine to the transforming D-pad, which is great for pretty much everything. Fighting games, Gears, racing games, anything. The OG Xbox One controller had somewhat uncomfortable bumpers for me, and the D-pad is prone to breaking down. I did love the rumble triggers though. I've ordered a Series X/S controller from shop4malaysia, just to have a go at it with my PC.

I have no idea if anyone got their PO fulfilled yet. If they canceled my PO, they sure as heck will lose my business forever. They were saying it will only arrive next year Q1.

I noticed this on 2 of my new controllers, seems like a consistent problem - check on reddit as well. You mean the new Xbox Series controllers? Hmmm. I ordered one controller but it haven't arrived yet. Will give it a try after I get it.

I’m not sure if the issue persists with the new Series controller thou, you might wanna test it out at a certain angle once you have it. I used to have sub par experience with my OG Xbox One controllers related to the D-pad, but not the buttons. They fixed the D-pad on the Bluetooth models. This is honestly the first time I heard about the sticky A button though.

Initially when I didn’t notice it as well, until I search on Reddit. Seems like a widespread issue. It has something to do with the adhesive used internally that ‘might’ leak to where the A button is placed. Funny thou. That's interesting. Guess it's time I dissect my Xbox One controller to see what's inside!

QUOTE(TongCN @ Nov 27 2020, 11:26 AM) I did actually. But I didn't really notice any difference in 4K/60 or 1440p/120. I know on Series X it does have a 120Hz mode, but I don't think on One X it can use 120Hz mode. I definitely noticed the game is much smoother now, probably due to VRR support. I already have been using Gsync on PC for close to 4 years now, so I know what VRR can do for enhanced gaming experience.
