Wah you all really buying Xbox Series X is it. Did you guys also get Xbox One last time? Or you all from the 360 era. Just wondering.
*
I typically get Xbox and Playstation for each gen. This gen I started with OG Xbox One in 2014. Then got a PS4 Pro in 2018. Then an Xbox One X later on the same year. For the next gen I'm getting Series X first. Might get a PS5 later down the line.

It depends on how robust the hardware is I guess. My OG Xbox One was purchased through a friend in Ireland. No warranty whatsoever, but it didn't give me any problems. My Xbox One X was purchased from Impulse, with warranty through them. Lucky I had the warranty too, since it died after only 5 months. It would have been a very expensive paperweight if I didn't have the warranty.

QUOTE(greyshadow @ Oct 7 2020, 01:45 PM)
yeah, that's the risk there

reports are coming in that the XBsX is running very hot,
basically it's a mini portable heater there with hot winds blowing out when it's running only XB1 games
can't imagine how hot it will be when it's running next gen games hmm.gif

But hot air also meaning the giant fan and the huge heat sink is working as intended
and I think we should have more space for air circulation around the console this time
*
From what I understand, hot air is being rapidly moved from the bottom of the console to the top, which is what we feel at the top vent. That means it's doing its job properly. The 360 actually had a known design flaw, but Microsoft still rushed it to beat Sony to market. I don't believe the Series X will have this issue, but some skepticism is healthy. I also don't want to give Microsoft a free pass over it.

I DIYed one using the washer on the x-clamps, lasted me for a few months only, tower trick doesn't seems to work for mine
*
Same here. My first 360 model was the launch version, the one without HDMI out. After that got RROD, I sent it to someone to have it fixed using washer method. I sold that unit to someone, so I'm not sure if it happened again. Then I got another unit that had the HDMI out (Falcon), but THAT also got RROD! I sent it to someone to be re-balled, and that fixed the issue permanently. I did however sell THAT one to my junior, and got a 360 arcade set as the replacement (Jasper). This one never got RROD to this day.

LOL, how come your experience is same like mine?  except I DIYed the first two using washer method and resell it also tongue.gif
re-ball is too expensive for me since I'm planning to resell it anyway

anyway... those are really the simpler days, also the start of "Play Original" era, where I spend a lot of time "educating" my peers on the importance of buy & support original games biggrin.gif
*
Are we the same person? 😄 Yup I also cared more about supporting the industry around this era. More Steam, original 360 and PS3 titles, less yargggh version.

Seems like no news from GH on XSX or XSS still.

Some users on reddit postings images of the console being transferred to retailers and warehouses already. Interesting times.

Singapore release date is same as US right? Still got time before November 10. But not sure if they will fulfill it for launch day.

Well that sucks. Not only my RTX 3080 order was delayed, now it looks like I won't be getting the Series X too. Even if we don't get next gen games that soon, if I can play FFXV in locked 60fps, that would be awesome. There's other stuff like 120fps support for Ori, but my TV isn't HDMI 2.1, so that's out of question.

Change my pre-order from series s to x. I think an upgrade of hdd to 1 tb and more powerful gpu is worth the upgrade.

But receive a bit late, under third batch. Haiyaaa...
*
Personally I don't really mind just getting the Series S, if not for the tiny SSD size. I think I'll wait for more SSD options instead of getting the Seagate one. Supposedly there will be other manufacturers making them too.

Playing Halo Master Chief Collection at 4K 120 doesn’t sound too bad  tongue.gif

I’m waiting for my TV to be updated to HDMI2.1 - so far they’ve rolled out to Europe, Asia should be quite soon, I hope. I ‘upgraded’ from a monitor to a TV just for the sake of next-gen console gaming.
*
It's about time consoles get 120fps support! I used to think 60fps was as good as it gets for gaming, until I got a 4k 144Hz monitor. Now I massively prefer higher framerate over resolution. It's crazy to think that Series X will be able to do 4K 30fps with ray tracing for certain games like Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition, when even PCs have a hard time doing that. I don't know which one I can get my hands on first, the Series X or the RTX 3080. I'm looking forward to get both!

Dang it. I just checked my GH pre-order status, mine is actually the 3rd batch. I was pretty sure it was supposed to be 2nd batch. Ah well. Guess I need to wait longer then.

You referred to the Pre-Order page right? It follows the product title one- mine also showing 3rd batch. Don’t think its a correct indicator because their product title changes by batches, ala dynamic.
*
Yeah I just decided to log in to GH portal and check my PO. It says 3rd batch Feb 2021. I hope you're right. If not I will be waiting until next year to get anything, since my RTX3080 was canceled. No stock 😓

better go for qisahn 3rd batch, 14 dec... atleast can get b4 end year with shipping

time for 6900xt instead? haha
*
Waiting for more reviews and benchmarks for the 6800XT since that's the one going against RTx 3080. It has more RAM than RTX 3080, but I wish it had DLSS equivalent too. I don't really care for native 4K if DLSS looks as good, but less overhead cost.

You messaged them on FB?

I got a very generic reply from them, like no answer one  ranting.gif

I mean, I don’t expect them to have stocks by launch day, but at least mid November. They should at least let us know on the status, especially those pre-ordered. I’m a first batch pre-order as well.
*
I'm going to assume the order will only be fulfilled IF they get stock. So for all we know, if they can't get stock, we continue waiting possibly into next year.

Guess we're all in the same boat huh. Let's see if any of us can get a unit by this year itself.

Ok update -

So GH finally responded to me regarding my batch - I am currently in the First Batch of Pre-Order, but seems like until today, GH has no idea when they will be getting their allocation, yet alone the quantity. The batches might not include all the allocation assigned per batch - meaning might be lesser, might be more.

So basically its just the waiting game now.  sweat.gif
*
Fook me. So it really is a case of wait and see? 🤦

the xbox series x from japan power supply can use here? and can change language to english?
*
The Xbox Series X has an internal power supply that should be usable with all regions' power. Just like Xbox One X.

I'm pretty sure we should be able to switch the language at any time we want. But just in case you need to switch, change it from 日本語 to 英語

日本語 = Japanese language
英語 = English languange

Haven’t gotten any call from GH, but looking at the feedback here seems concerning.

If its 2021, gonna cancel my PO and source elsewhere already.
*
I'll just leave my PO for now. Maybe I'll just focus on building a Ryzen 5000 gaming rig for November/December. BUT if some shop has it on retail, I'll just buy it and then only cancel my PO.

Don't know about buying a console. But I've bought a game from them before. Service not bad. Even though they're from Singapore, they frequently update me via Whatsapp on order status and delivery status. I'm happy with their service overall.

I just got a call from Gamers Hideout about the PO status. Just like a few of us already know, they are having trouble getting units, and all orders are pushed to next year. They did also say if I still want to PO with them, they will give me a coupon or something worth RM100 for use on an Xbox game in the future. I guess I'll just stay with them for now.
