how come the D810 is more expensive than 838pro?

Yup, its being offered in all PDA Expert branches. Not only are the prices attractive, they`re offering 0% interest free installments for RHB and HSBC credit card holders! The D810 is being bundled with its usual 2GB card, screen protector and Bluetooth headset (Logitech) and is selling for RM2,799. I almost got it today if it wasn`t because the Midvalley branch din have their HSBC card machine delivered to them in time.

Note that for those who opt for the 0% installments, there is an additional RM100 fee chargeable for each model.

How come it is not HTC, but Dopod ?, and why are they quoting C500 SPR as RM1999 ?

Actually, that might be a possibility. There are 9 outlets participating in this promotion ... so at the end of the 3rd day if all units are sold, u`re looking at 81 units of each model. Plus a few additional sets for "late comers", I`m guessing probably 100 units each. Considering HTC acquired Dopod in May, it`s almost 2 months now and SIS would probably have exhausted much of their stocks under the Dopod brand. This "might" be seen as clearing the Dopod name and pushing HTC next month. Just me 2 cents.

They can't be clearing stock for HTC Touch right?

Hmmm.... after almost a year, the 838 Pro starting to drop in price significantly. I guess its to be expected....... Some of the other models as well. D810 still holing strong though......

maybe they just wanna attract ppl to come to their shop...

It won't happen, so dream on, even if it happens, only RM100 or 200 off and you get to buy it a near retail price.

Dopod belongs to HTC, so it doesn't matter anyway.

C500 SPR stated there is RM1699, although the pic is not that clear.

the Kaiser is like 838 pro + D810. they won't be so stupid as to do such a promo as people would just line up to buy the Kaiser even if it is rm3k++.

Those units for sale under this promotion is still running on Windows Mobile 6? or still on the previous WM5

i think all still running on wm5 except htc touch and dopod c500.
but for d810, 838pro, p800w and u1000 u can download the official rom here:

but after upgrade to wm6 of these device will get new htc boot skin,
no more dopod boot skin.

Actually, those models that has released WM6 can be upgraded on the spot by the shop. Don`t have to go through the hassle urself.

Yes it can be done. But if you want to avoid leaving your device there(Maybe overnight) or are not living in KL, its better to get it done yourself as the steps are not difficult......

which model you are referring to? for d810, confirmed it's HTC logo after wm6 upgrade. well, i dun think it makes any different to have dopod or htc as boot screen, unless it will make the device run faster, perhaps, it will if without the logo.

U`re right about leaving devices there ... I was refering more on purchasing a new unit and they upgrading it there and then for u.

I`m so pissed with PDA Expert right now. They advertised a 0% interest free installment for HSBC (and RHB) during their promotional period of 13 to 15 July 2007. Being a HSBC card holder, this gave me the incentive to get my PDA now. On Friday afternoon when I discovered the promotion, I rushed to HSBC to make my credit card payment (normally, I leave this to end of the month) so that I can pay for the PDA. Rushed back to Midvalley at 5pm, circled around for car park then went up with lots of anticipation.

I was so disappointed when they told me that the HSBC credit card machine has not arrived and therefore unable to process my installment plan. Asked me to come back the next day. Fine .... so I waited and this time, being smarter, I called first on Saturday afternoon. Nope ... no machine. Called on Sunday .... nope, no machine too. Apparently, there`s some dispute between SIS and HSBC resulting in them not being able to send their credit card machines on time for this promo. Fine! Can I come back tomorrow? "Sir, u`ll have to come in to pay a RM300 deposit to qualify for this promo", was the reply. I said that`s fine but to ask a customer to come all the way to Midvalley (on a Sunday afternoon, no less when it`ll be jam packed) just to pay a RM300 deposit (and still not being able to take the unit home) is rather ridiculous. I said it`s not the fault of the customer that ur credit card machine is not here ... to ask a customer to purposely go to an inconvenient shopping mall just to pay deposit seems to me like penalising the customer. The staff says fine .... pls come tomorrow and we`ll extend the promo to u. But come in the afternoon so that SIS ppl have time to send their CC machine over. Ok, I said. That was yesterday.

I called them today and guess what? SORRY, THE PRICE HAS GONE BACK TO ORIGINAL! WTF?? I said u promised to extend the offer to me ... they said, sorry, no RM300 deposit, no special price. Man, I am so pissed with them! If they said they cannot extend the promo on Sunday then I would have found a way to go to Midvalley, regardless how inconvenient it is to me. But they said can extend so I was looking forward to today. I was even prepared to pay the non-installment promo price so that I don`t have to wait for the stupid CC machine but no, installment or not, it`s back to normal price. DAMN!

The price difference isn`t much ... I`d have forsaken the RM100 discount anytime but it`s a matter of principle. How could PDA Expert run a promo but cannot provide the facilies as advertised? Secondly, what was promised by the staffs was not fulfilled! I am extremely disappointed at the way they`re handling this situation.

chill man... we got your message and able to share and feel your undoubtful disappointments. who knows, there will be another promo with RM200 off next week? hardware prices is like... wut to worry?

Sorry to hear that. Some of the employees are just like that.
But IIANM, their company policy will not allow them to extend the promo unless a deposit is made, because the deposit means that you have bought on the promo day itself.

I suppose the reason y I`m so upset is ..... I donno.

Like all men, I must make sure I am financially sound enough to be a match for her, so I waited ... and waited ... just for the right time to make my move. And my dreams were answered last weekend! The requirements to have her follow me home was lowered and I find myself immediately drawn to the place where she resides. Alas, conditions were not ideal for me to take her home the first day ... and so, I waited .... and waited .... each night shivering with anticipation, each morning bringing new promise, wondering is this the day my dream will be fulfilled. I can imagine having her at the palm of my hands, stroking her delicate face, thumbing through the dials. Night after night, the desire grows, compounded by the fact that I know I will have her soon! Then, my dream fell apart ... the nightmare began. It felt as if someone poured cold water over my shoulder ... and slapped me across my face to wake me from my dream. I understand ur point, shockk, that companies need deposits to "seal the deal", so to speak. But in this situation, the terms and conditions were not made possible on the part of the merchant. As such, y penalise the customer when it is the merchant themselves who have made an error in their offering? I understand, sympathise and fully accept that shit do happen, that things do not always happen as forecasted in marketing plans but faced with obstacles and challenges, it`s up to companies to be flexible, to improvise in order to attain what is most important to it; customer satisfaction ... particularly when the fault is the company(ies) itself and not the customer. If u tell me under normal conditions (that is, all that is being advertised is available) that a deposit is required to confirm the order, I can accept that. But it is not, and what more, a promise was made by staffs (who probably had a lot more to answer to customers than their managers) were not kept. I don`t blame the staff, merely the inflexibility of PDA Expert to change its policy a little, just for this few days as a result of the unforeseen difficulty of securing the credit card machine in time for this short 3 days promo. Was this too much to ask?

Try bringing the case to upper-levels of management. Maybe you could directly call up and speak to PDA Expert's HQ managers about it. Tell your story to them. Who knows they might oblige you with the offer.

Nah, what`s the point? As I`ve mentioned earlier ... the amount isn`t huge .... but the damage to their reputation cannot be measured. I`m sure I won`t be the oni one complaining about this so I leave it to them to solve themselves. I still do believe in their products and services, but I will no longer support the branch in Midvalley. I don`t blame them, the staff of Midvalley for following orders but I am unimpressed with the way they handled (or should I say, kill) my enthusiasm. When u have a customer eagerly calling u each day, asking about ur facilities and finally finding out that the promo is irrevocably over only after calling in himself, tell me where is their business mind? As unpleasant as it may be for the staff to call the customer to deliver the bad news, it`s worse when the customer himself calls up and find out himself. If u`re the customer, tell me how would u feel?

A lot of these phone/PDA/gadget shops' employees are all out to make a quick buck. Always saying things just so they can easily close the sale with people even by lying and giving false hopes.
