you know how to tie a "prawn hook" ?
usually we use that method to tie a hook using wire line, then at the end of the line we put a swivel to connect the mono leader... hrmm well picta later for better understanding.. he he

one of the kiasu method, double hook, this also can apply on wire line =)

that method not practical for biggies he he.. mono n wire dont mix well =)

yalorr .. better if u just do a swivel end for your wire and then connect your mono from that swivel .. hehehehe
if kena biggie your wire will cut into the mono line connected .. thats why better use swivel .. cannot jimat .. if jimat and fish lari lagi hailatt .. hahahahaha

sorry to interrupt.. need some advice ... what kind of setup should i use for beach fishing... rod.. reels.. line.. hooks... the kind of baits suitable.. and how the fishing is done (thinking of fishing for small fishes like kerapu.. anything that can be fished from the shore) would be very grateful too if anyone could suggest any place around perak, selangor, melaka or ns good for this type of fishing. thank you!

we should get more info from all the terra guys (cannot call them sifu, else they don't reply )
perhaps we can use this info if the PD trip is planned and confirmed...

if u plan to fish near some rocks for kerapu (rocky areas are normally where this fish hangs out) and u dont have to cast very far .. your normal 10-15lb paypond setup will do fine as near shore chances of getting this fish above 1kg oso very slim .. more like 300-500gms are more likely laa .. hehehehe
why use 10-15lb ?? the fish will dash into the rocks once it feels its hooked .. so slightly extra poundage for this purpose and abrasion .. if no orcks then 5lb oso enuff liauu for fish these size ..

as for places .. i dunno laa .. this one u have to ask some of the other guys around here .. hehehehe .. even with those kerapu kias caught from P9 from boat .. the weight feels heavier than the fish itself .. hahahahaaa

fav baits of the kerapoo is FRESH LIVE SOTONG if u can get any la .. or else FRESH SOTONG will do oso depending on luck lorrr .. u can oso try peeled FRESH PRAWNS ... tengok nasib lorr ..

Morning Alex. . starcruise ada apa ikan ka.. Barracuda also got.. talapia, Kerapu, ang chor, todak, belanak, pek tiam, Red snapper, siakap, senangin.. senangin taiwan.. gerut gerut.. damn lot la..

see the 1st thread.. the siakap is caught there by my sifu.. 9kg one.. my biggest record there is 3.5 kg siakap... 2 kg barracuda.. 3.2kg senangin..

yeah... tok to some ppl yesterday..
they said just substitute the assist hook line with a steel wire can liao..
chances of a fish biting off the leader is very slim..

What happened?

Apart of what have been shared with bro Q, you can always do surf-casting at the beach side.

Rod: Surf rod with 14feet(min) 21feet(max)
Reel: Surf reel with 30lb mono or braided...Prefer mono. Suggested reel Tica Dolphin 10,000

Cast out with a sinker(without leader + hooks + bait) then clip your leader line onto the main line. It will swing downwards to the sinker part.

As for Bro Q's method, it's highly recommended. Use a soft plastic like grub also can. Use the smalled weight that you can find. Prepare a running sinker method. Cast out! Let it sink to the bottom, crank in very very slowly. Once you feel a tug, you strike! This is to prevent the grouper from going into their holes. Worry not, it will not get snagged, as the weight used is very small and easily drifted by the current.
