What about Korean animation? I think I remember a lot of DC animations are Korean-based.
Regardless, animations are usually surrounded by harsh working conditions and low pay. Much like game development.

Westerners love Korean animators so much cos they can deliver at a very cheap price under scrunch timing. I remember a lot of my childhood animations are also done by Korean studios. Those movie-to-series cartoons like Evolution, Godzilla: The Series, MIB. To the ones like Extreme Ghostbusters, Jackie Chan Adventures are all done by Koreans iirc.

I do agree with the sentiment that China might have high-quality animators, but it wouldn't mean much cos they don't have visionary writers.

Look here. Animator Dormitory Project.

Average income for Japanese animators is 800USD, living in Tokyo.

I wonder if Korean and Chinese animators have it better or worse.
