What's the purpose?

When most helplines for banks, telcos and companies force you to call their 1 300 numbers?

Do you know that your unlimited call plan do not cover 1-300 and 1-800 and you'll be charged on per min basis?

From my observation:
1-300 = not toll-free = charges per minute rate
1-800 = "majority" are toll-free
Other special numbers/hotline = charges per minute rate

I never call their 1-300 numbers. Instead, call their "overseas" number. Eg below:

However, if alternative number is not available, and no other choice but to call thru 1-300, then only use pay per minute rate but will ask the other party to return call if possible. If return call not possible, settle via Live Chat or email correspondence (depends on which service providers we are dealing with...)

Tried doing so instead of their 1300 option, always tried to find alternative local number 03-xxxx but it just won't go through. They only allow overseas call through only.

And for the complaints...

Try look harder...
There 03 number available...

Specifically try Maybank's. Their +603-7844 3696 (Overseas) number is only for overseas call. If you're calling locally to that local 03 number, your call will drop immediately.

So they force you to dial the 1-300 number instead,

Its call fake marketing. They know not many ppl use to call while they rather use app to call so give u unlimited. When u use over they use far use policy on you.

With today's unlimited call for national numbers countrywide, the 1-300 serves no purpose.
Aren't unlimited nationwide calls already TOLL-FREE?

1300 are easier to remember than a normal number.

Easy to remember but you're going to be charged by the minute for that. Convenience comes with a price huh? End up consumers will have to fork the bill.
