QUOTE(nles @ Jul 11 2007, 10:54 PM) Simpul, yeah.. that's true.. and we will take the rent way.. can anybody giv the minimum specs so that all the games can be played smoothly? thanks..Bringing own PC it's not what I will recommend. I'm afraid it will cause more problems on the day. If you have your own gaming PC u can test it before the event and that's much safer. Letting others bring their own pc you will probably face games version problem, some might have hacks inside their PC. If one of the participants PC infected by network virus, then it's going to be a big problem. There's lotsa gaming tournament around the globe, you can take their rules as reference just make sure their rules are up to date. regarding the renting, i think it would be cheaper if we rent from students than rent from cybercafes.. we really like if anybody wanted to sponsor / lend some pcs, but we did not know how.. QUOTE(gestapo @ Jul 11 2007, 11:09 PM) wahh.. this game is so high end loh.. anyhow, nice idea.. thanks..This post has been edited by simpul: Jul 12 2007, 12:30 AM |

aiyoh.. as i can see, these folks here(UUM) like dota becoz well, kind of easy to play because dun have to build anything.. here, we even got their clans of their own, the difference is they come from different hostel colleges..
how about cs:source? issit better to use source instead of 1.6? what about the other games? any ideas? This post has been edited by simpul: Jul 12 2007, 11:44 AM |

dude, if you want more participants in ur tourney, regarding the warcraft thing, ofcourse in Malaysia, the 'dota' mod will get more participants. fujkenasai maybe is right about dota not yet that famous around the world compared to the melee but if you are targeting participants in malaysia especially ur uni, obviously dota is the right choice. correct me if im wrong.

Ish, sikit sikit dota vs the world. madness betul.
Just do the games that UUM pple like. DotA, FIFA, Winning Eleven, CS etc etc. As for CS, I suggest you use v1.6 as the hardware requirement is lower and almost all local tournaments currently using 1.6. |

QUOTE i want to add a game for girls, any suggestions? Hmm Thats a hard one. I suggest those dancing/music games like O2J. QUOTE if i wanted to go for rent pcs, what the specs and how much should i get for all the games listed? I think a 2.0G CPU + 7600 Graphic cards+ 1Gig ram should do fine. For the games your running. |

If you're catering to just UUM students, you should a survey among them to see they what they prefer to play.
No point over extending yourself trying to cater to everyone and having so many different games, stretching your resources too thin. Less headache for you at the end of the day. Since you've said that you're not that experienced in organizing a tournament, my advice to you would be to start small then as you get a grip on things over time, you can work your way up to organizing bigger tourneys. Sample rules can be found easily online: http://www.worldcybergames.com/6th/main.asp http://www.caleague.com/ http://www.cevo.com/ |

what do you mean by wasted ? so u mean they should sell their high end rig and buy a normal pc because they play dota ? this is a total flame statement. I guess people who owns a high end rig but use it only for normal use like surfing internet, office applications etc etc will be worst than 'wasted'.

is this a UUM-Close competition? meaning only UUM students can join? if it is a "close" competition, then u need to do survery first, wat games do UUM students play? is quite meaningless doing a competition for a game that only 3 ppl play (yeah, those 3 can get first second and third placing, lol). get wat the crowd will play, get the rules done at least 2weeks before the competition so the players can practice. and byoc is a no no no no no no no no no. if u are looking for rules, format, u just post it here and i bet they are lots of experienced ppl in here tat will help u.
