Hi everyone.

I just undergo hernia surgery in mid July 2019. Now its about 4 month. Is it safe for me to do weight lifting?

Does the heavy squat and deadlift should be avoid?

Thanks.

Abit about my self.

- 30yo male
- 57kg with 172cm
- goal is muscle mass / weight gained
- previously do some workout routine eg: 5x5 but stop half way.

Workout Routine most likely like this now.
Monday
Barbell Bench Press
Weighted Push Up
Close Grip Bench Press
Skull cruhser
Single arm dumbbell kickback

Wednesday
Dumbbell Squat
Shoulder Press
Bent over delt raise
Lateral raise
Front raise

Friday
Barbell Row
Barbell Curl
Chin Up
Cable Curl
Single arm dumbbell row
For squat i use dumbbell due to the lower weight. Im not dare to use barbell heavy weight for squat.
Deadlift i avoid coz scary.

My last record deadlift is just about 60++kg, while squat around 50++ kg.

Actually, you should start working out as soon after surgery, but start from sub-maxima weight, if no symptom and you comfort with it then progressively increase the weight to one repetition maximum (1RM), but mind your posture for every weight training. Engaging a physiotherapist or sport coach will be a good idea.
