I think Astro got a monopoly on EPL in Malaysia so it's either them or pirate. If legal than need VPN for sure.

Netflix still offering the best content so far, Disney+ more towards family oriented + MCU fans, both no football channels, that's the disadvantages.

Using Surfshark VPN, no issues at all.. Getflix and Smartdnsproxy claims that their dns service already works with Disney+ but when I tried, it still failed.

What worked for me was subscribing via amazon fire tv’s disney+ app. Then it forwards me to my amazon account.

Didn’t work when I key in my msia cc directly on their site.
Other method seems to be to use gmail with us location.

netflix is the current obvious choice. they still have contracts for a lot of shows from other content providers.

but in a few years time though, many existing content will be pulled by those providers and make them exclusive in their own streaming service. so for anyone wants to experience the golden age of streaming service, it is netflix now or never. would have been better if you have experienced netflix in 2016 when it first became available to Malaysia (with VPN). its content has shrunk a lot since then, and is going to shrink further in a few years time.

or if you have vpn, you can set the region to USA and open a new amazon prime account. it will default to USA region account and you will be able to access all USA content from Amazon streaming service, which has a lot more content compare to the Malaysia version.

the downside of it though, the monthly subscription to Amazon Prime cost more in USA compared to the USD$2.99 - USD$5.99 subscription in Malaysia. if you are only interested in Amazon exclusive content, there is no need to get USA version of Amazon Prime.

Not advocating piracy here but there are now too many providers. Everyone see the success of Netflix and try to copy. Too many cooks spoil the broth. It will just make a lot of people piss off and turn to piracy to get more content. All these will backfire on all those providers in the long run.

1. I watch mostly documentaries and some movies with 5.1.2 Atmos and 4K on AppleTV+
2. MCU dramas on Disney Hotstar and rewatch some movies: Deadpool 1/2 Avatar etc (3 months and don’t want to renew anymore), NO 4K and Atmos contents on my TV.

Do not pay for CuriosityStream. It cannot play HD without stuttering. Haven't had chance to eval the touted Discovery+.

In reality baju abang askar have real 4K-quality than the jagged images swirling around on screen of ex-terrestrial channels on UnifiTV. You might as well install MyTV once than keep paying TM indefinitely.
But, it's a replacement for the outgoing Animax Astro channel though.

HBOgo, Disney+, Netflix, Viu, iQiyi, LionsGate Play, BBC depends on your preference for regional movie. I have not eval TVB.

I would suggest if you want to subscribe to western-region streaming service, don't do all together at once as each have huge library that it will become a waste to be left idle as you watch one over the other. Subscribe to them in alternating fashion if possible i.e. 3 mths Disney+, 3mths Netflix, 3mths Hulu, 3mths HBOgo.

Disney+, LionsGate, iQiyi does not have PIN protection.

It is a concern with iQiyi since I found tits-galore content out in the open . LionsGate appears to also have what seemed to be adult-content, though i did not hurt my eyeballs to validate if they really are.

And for iQiyi, it is "COMING SOON" to Astro boxes. I didn't even need to key in account information to launch Netflix on Astro, and worried it will the same with iQiyi app later. Stupendously problematic if kids can freely access adult-content in iQiyi.

since i open this topic i only experience iflix for one year and netflix (share account) and apple tv one year (complimentary) also. prime and disney+ on trial only.

but my dotter is keen to watch youtube kids channel like diana & roma, the royal family, vlad & niki. i guess they make millions like snap of a finger.
me and wife doesnt watch movies much, so we doesnt bother it anymore.
