class 10 max is 238kbps, also depend on the device's slot, 4(DL)/1(UL) or 3/2

while class 32 (still very rare gadget on market) can hit 29x kbps, its utilize 6 slots thus can hit up higher speed. smile.gif
200 Kbps is 24.41 kB/s
i think its good enuf for sufing & download. smile.gif

not consistent is expected.

Ic, thx for yr explanation.

I used iPAQ 6828 to connect via usb, the download speed oso terrible. It takes more than 1 min to finish a 200k attachment.

I plan to buy a SE hp to replace this hp, anyone use se phone to connect b4?

Hi all,

I have started to use digi edge as replacement of streamyx to online. The speed is acceptable to me, anyway it is slower than tmnut. But since i am only a light surfer, no extensive downloading is required. Still ok.

For yr info, i used my ipaq 6828 and nokia 6300 to online.

Is it? The Digi guy told me that i got nothing once i sign the package. The Sim card will be issued when HP delivery their goods..

Btw, how to configure the IPAQ to act as a modem & connect to notebook. So that i can serve the net using my notebook via EDGE...
*
HP wont deliver the sim card to u. U shld get from digi dealer when u obtain the notebook. For my case, i got the simcard from the outlet in University Malaya.

For using of yr ipaq as modem, u just activate a program in yr phone called "modem link" then connecting the phone to yr notebook via usb/bluetooth. Yr phone will be automatically detected in win xp (vista i am not sure) as usb/wireless modem.

Afterward, setup a dial up with the following configurations:
username & password : blank
Dial no: *99#

U shld able to online now.

Updates again.Digi promises to call me but never turn up.. Called them again, and was told that i need to bring my IPAQ to hp center to upgrade the firmware due to slow EDGE (below 50kbps).
I told them, there is nothing wrong on the phone as use this phone to act as a modem & test it out in my office area. The average speed is about 150kbps..
Then, they will need to forward to their network engineer AGAIN !!! How long they need to solve my problem!!!! bad service !!!
*
Hi sugen,

My problem is exactly same as u, always connected between pathetic 30~50kbps at my resident place. If u plan to complain kaw2 to digi or mcmc, u will definitely get my support.

My edge speed is only ok before 8am (above 100kbps) . After that it will drop below 50kbps.

As suggested by bro cy97, install neteagle can increase the speed a bit. (Thanks bro cy97).

Man, i think unless digi bought over time and upgrade to 3G, if not our speed cant help.

can it actually replace streamyx then?
*
It depends on yr need actually. If yr streamyx is only used for surfing and emailing, this edge can replace streamyx anytime. But if u use yr internet service for p2p downloading, streamyx still win one hand down. Edge will take u forever to download a 100mb movie.

Hi guy...sorry to ask something about RM149/month package...
The unlimited GPRS?....what is this mean?
Only GPRS speed?....not broadband speed?
someone can explain here?
Thanks.
*
If u hv edge detected in yr area, then will be edge speed. otherwise gprs speed. Edge speed theoretically can achieve max 238kbps but based on the feedback from the subscriber, 50~120kbps is most often case. some rare time can achieve >200kbps.

If u 12 compare with streamyx, still a hand down. but it provide u mobility.

oh...ok....that mean I need to put data simcard into hp, then use EDGE...since this is only data simcard, so no any incoming voice call....sms....mms... ?
*
Yes, u just put yr simcard in any edge enable phone, then shld be ok. But got rumors said nokia phone will perform better.

If u subscribe 161.5 package, then u will get voice plan besides data plan. RM50 free voice charge for first 6 months will be given. 149.5 package i not sure got voice plan or not. 124 package definitely dun hv.

IMHO, 200kbps is possible to achieve but 400kbps+++ is almost ridiculous. the max dl speed for n73 is 236.8kbps only.

Yes.. am what i am doing now... the phone connect via USB cable to my hp notebook...That is all... No need to do any setting. Just turn on the "internet sharing" on hp, the your notebook will detect and auto create a internet sharing.. Done ! EDGE at nite is 120-160 at nite in my area..Sometimes can go to 200kbps.. Morning ..sure can get 220+kbps...With your phone & notebook, u can online at everywhere (perhaps EDGE coverage area lah)

I think can use edge/3g router to broadcast wifi, but after testing the edge speed, i think not worth it lah. The router cost >RM500.

Same thing lah..HSPDA stand for High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA, also known as High-Speed Downlink Protocol Access) is a 3G (third generation) mobile telephony communications protocol. HSDPA deployments support down-link speeds of 1.8, 3.6, 7.2 and 14.4 Mbit/s. But i think, at the moment Celcom or Maxis only offer max 3MB.. but this technology have a potential to growth.. As the max speed is 14.4Mbps..

Since Digi fail to tender for the 3G license.. I am in doubt that what is their company direction in future...
*
Got rumors said digi will acquire/merge with time dot com to provide 3G service. dunno whether is true.

Yes, i subscribed this edge services to replace my tmnut streamyx. perhaps i am so greedy, i want both speed and mobility together.
