QUOTE(UnknownH @ Jan 27 2022, 09:02 PM) Thought on LS2 helmet safety? Very affordable price I see. Certified to ECE22.05 so should be ok. Sharp rating are available for some models. It's a Spanish brand but really based in China, last time same factory as MHR. Now top models got carbon fibre and MotoGP FIM approval. Just make sure to look at the details when buying. Sometimes the visor sealing not perfect, so kena rain will seep inside.

DOT sticker is trust basis, helmet manufacturer need to self test for compliance. DOT testing is done on random, and the database can be found online. Many branded helmets fail performance, but still allowed to be sold. SNELL list can be found, but not the results. You won't see AGV helmets here. Worth to note, SNELL database can see LS2 and Jiangmen Pengchen helmets certified for M2015 list. Jiangmen Pengchen makes MHR and LS2 brands. I haven't found ECE test data available online, same with SIRIM too. Another China brand, J*****, also quite interesting. I managed to contact their customer service, and asked about DOT and ECE approvals. For the same model, can order DOT approved, or ECE approved model. Using same material, but different amount, can achieve different approval rating. And they did send me a list of other brand names they sell across the world. However, in Malaysia, I only saw DOT approved on sale. LS2 MHR background: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « QUOTE LS2 started in 1990, only 20 years ago. Mr Arthur Liao invested about 350 euros and started his fledgling helmet business in a tiny hoiuse of less that 600 square feet. At that time he could only afford to hire one employee. Mr Peng Zheng. Twenty years later, Peng is still working for the company. Together they started to manufacture their first helemets from this small rural workshop.
Demand for the helmets increased fast. To capitalize on this Arthur needed to expand the business. He leased a 4000 sq. ft factory, and recruited another 100 personnel to the team. Meanwhile, Mr. Stephan Liao (Arthur&apos' brother) joined the management and strived to develop and prepare for future business.
The helmets are sold throughout the country Our trademark "FENGXING" had played a very important role in the domestic market and our helmets had been a huge success all over the country. That year, we finally moved into our own 18000 sq ft purpose built factory.
As the first pioneer in helmet industry in China, Arthur had already turned his vision to the global market and changed his helmet trademark to "MHR". To be taken seriously in the global market required serious and ambitious investment to modernize the factory, it's machinery and technology. This investment paid off with international praise and recognition for MHR's products.
As the business continued to grow rapidly Arthur realized that he could not continue to expand the factory alone. He requested his other brother, Mr. Paul Liao, join to manage MHR's further expansion, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge gained in his own successful business. Paul joined MHR on June 28, a very momentous occasion which meant MHR would truly become a family firm and also laid the foundation for today's achievements at MHR.
MHR was proud to gain ISO9000 accreditation. MHR now owned and controlled, in house, all new conceptions and technologies for helmet production. Including plastic injection, composite treatment, painting, testing and so on. The whole systematized management from raw material to a finished helmet under one roof.
As the business continued to grow, Arthur and Paul made a multimillion dollar investment to establish JIANGMEN PENGCHENG HELMETS, LTD. (JPH), JPH wholly owns a 330,000 sq. ft State of the art factory with over 1,000 employees, producing more than 2 million helmets a year.
A landmark year. We realized that sooner or later our enterprise would inevitably perish if we continued to manufacture only OEM and ODM products in the future; therefore we decided to create and sell our own brand to the world. But, how and where to start? Using the abbreviation of LIAO'S SYSTEM as the brand, LS2 was conceived, born and registered worldwide. Meanwhile the head office of LS2 was established in Barcelona, Spain. LS2 helmets also exhibited for the first time at the EICMA show in Milan, Italy. From that day, LS2 helmets demonstrated its courage, passion and determination to step into the global market!
Sees LS2 Helmets continued development and expansion with the acquisition of a 30,000 sq. ft. warehouse in Chicago, Illinois, USA. and set up of a new team to take LS2 helmets to the American and Canadian consumers.

Agree on the above helmet, is not suitable for Malaysian road from compliance perspective.
Different country got different culture, laws, or rules. DOT US allows half helmet like the above, it is certified for road use, JIS also allows half helmet, but limited to engine cc. SIRIM/ECE allows jet helmets without visors. Half or steng helmets like up there one, sure not accepted but they are still available for sale. If visors (clear, tinted) are included, they are subjected to ECE tests as well.
To be frank, affordable helmets likely fail the current ECE 22.05 or the MS1:2011 tests. I hope Malaysian helmet makers catch up la.

When the helmet confiscate was in the news, I know someone who bought China helmet from shopee. RM60 with internal visor. The person bought 2 on separate occasions from different seller. That same helmet also got local seller at slightly higher price.
The helmets arrived with no issue. After use a while, the helmet EPS liner tercabut from the shell, and then inside the shell got 1 sticker.
The sticker says 'suitable for electric moped under 30kmh only'. My friend gave the helmets away.
SIRIM ada test helmets, for local manufacturers and and imported brands want to get the SIRIM label. MS1 helmet certification got 2, 1996 and 2001 IINM.
JPJ is the governing body on what we use for head protection. Kastam jaga whatever we import.
So, all these 3 bodies work together to earn money from helmet makers or importers or buyers to make sure we wear the correct helmets, eventhough they sendiri may not wear helmets.

Nice. I'm hoping to find SIRIM tested visor for local helmets. Such as those smoke or iridium ones. Mainly for impact protection, and optical quality.
At one time, I bought a smoked visor, it made my sense of distance off, things macam flat, colorless, and the surroundings appear less 3D. That helmet, very old liao, so used a bit later threw away. Switched to a different helmet and pasang the ori smoked visor, eventho mahal, but the quality really different. The visor even do water beading and is not iridium type.
nowadays, I buy helmet will ask what visor they sell, got ori smoke? ori iridium? then will consider that helmet I heard branded visor even up to 3~4 hundred a piece, those visor must got see through ability

Please provide options for economy helmets with Sirim MS1:2011. Price range, let's say under RM150?
Apparently MS88 is certified to it.
Would prefer something with visor.

Jasonthanks for the updates Sirim MS1:1996 is not ECE, the 2011 is adapted to ECE R22.05. But, you're correct if less informed public can be mistaken, or does not know at all.
Zeus helmet been around here > 10 years. Last time mix with LC owners group already got few users.
KYT made news after buying Suomy and got into MotoGP. Many users brought in cooler and cheaper helmets from the originating country from seberang and become popular. Index used to have nice looking helmets in Thailand that some users brought in also, but that time belum zaman youtube and Insta...
Another brand is Bilmola.

QUOTE(ZZR-Pilot @ Mar 11 2022, 10:47 AM) OMG now that's a blast from the past...! I remember the guys used to slap on a SHOEI sticker on top of the INDEX logo... lololol.... then the knock-off industry got wind of it and saved them the trouble. Now got AAA grade X14, and got customers buy liao, ride R25, langgar Myvi, and showed the helmet 'saved his life'.

Index Malaysia does not look related to Index Thailand.
Index Malaysia series is sort of lower range than LTD helmets, cheaper by RM5~10, when they were priced at RM45~55, or RM55~65. Index Thailand now offers ECE rated helmets liao.
