realistically what's the solar panel price for a terrace house? and how long do you estimate for the ROI? There's another thread on solar panel and stuff, but from my little reading/understanding, seems like not worth the money VS the ROI in saving. What do you think?
*
mine is purposely for off grid use,
ROI is immediately after the battery and all system connected haha

for terrace house at least 16 panels (4KW)

Yes it is. 1/4 of the roof surface are solar panels (4 X 280W Amalden Solar Panel)
This panel is beautiful when there's light, the lines are sexy haha

question, how often do you need to wash/clean the solar panels?
since i assume banyak tahi burung..or dirt from rain water etc

good guestion, there's a spacing indeed if u lay flat the panels, but i did differently, i put on top of each other to create overlapping surface (but not overlapping the cells) just overlap at the Aluminium Frame side (approx 3/4 inch) and then seal with silicon glue

there's better way actually using gutter metal, but no, i choose to be cheapskate
*
nice. as i see normally ppl dont overlap it
but this idea is good. u can have free natural light in the house

Well, few month ago I started building this new unit at my house after selling 2 of my motorbikes
2 motorbikes which i rarely used sold for this Rumah Solar building expenses and extra money I bought Electric Bicycle

Slowly the house now is going Fully Off-Grid (The Container still using TNB supply) and the Rumah Solar (My Office) Fully Off-Grid
The new Rumah Solar will be my new office to do Renewable Energy Business and web development, where I allow people to come and see the real life system (how it works etc)
And the power generated is used to Power all appliances inside the house and charge my electric bike

Underneath the house I used it as shaded parking space for 2 compact cars

So, let's watch this intro video, more coming soon:
Cost: RM13,800 for Solar System + RM15,000 for the House + e-Bike (Bought directly from guangzhou)
Now in my possession 2 electric bikes + 1 compact car, looking forward to own an electric powered car if got enough money haha (which still a dream far to achieve)

*
do you need a permit to build off-grid solar?
thanks

hahaha, 280W panel is big, 1.65M X 0.95M
To climb and steal also difficult
I myself fell down when installing the panel due to the weight of the panel (and lifting it all alone some more) haha
*
MotoGP also got semangat to steal parts already, solar panel is nothing.

Solar panels can generate electricity up to 30 years
Inverter unit as long no lizard break into it (mine was good model of inverter) no potential holes for any insects coming in
Battery can last to 5 years
*
thanks mate, what about solar panel maintenance? need to clean them regularly?
i see, battery needs to be replaced every 5 years, how much does the battery cost?

do you produce excess power to be sold to TNB?

azree. I thought if you're connected you're somewhat able to supply power back to the grid, in rare cases.

Isn't the general purpose of the solar a supplementary, and the grid as a backup, the 'normal' way ?

What are the extra components required for an off grid system ?

have to watch your videos tonight sad.gif

I was looking at how those panels has little support and if something heavy like a fat cat jumped on it would crack the thing.
