QUOTE(joshhd @ Nov 4 2019, 04:25 PM) On display, all Malaysia FTA SD channels now are already in 16:9 ehm... generally all channels fit the screen well. The video itself will still be in 4:3 but without letterbox, so it's 16:9 fit to screen already. Since the display itself is already in 16:9, then I don't think there's much to talk about... Cuz even if they transmit in native 16:9 SD, you'll hardly see any visual difference or quality improvement. Just when i switch channel to TV3, it will show 16:9 with HD, even the watermark for myfreeview is damn small. while NTV7 & 8TV, the info still showing 4:3 without HD, and the myfreeview watermark is so obvious... of course besides the watermark, those HD channels having better picture quality. |

QUOTE(joshhd @ Feb 14 2020, 08:19 PM) Have you tried manual search? 650MHz, Channel 43. I have try both Auto search and manual with channel 43, both result negative.Perhaps, try relocate your antenna around and see if you can get the signal. If still cannot, then I'll need some details from you... What's your location (city and state)? Hope you could answer the following, to see if I can help... Are you using: - digital TV box from MYTV brand, or from other brands, or TV with built in digital TV tuner? - indoor or outdoor antenna? Take pic of your antenna if possible. - If it's outdoor antenna, are you using RG6 coaxial cable? I'm using condo building master antenna. I at Danau Kota, Setapak KL. PV condo. Receiver is MYTV brand. Just the cable from wall to receiver not RG6, but the signal & quality is almost full. But just the day before i still manage to get all channels. Been watching since the analogue off air until now. How come when they change frequencies, i can't get any... Looks like only hope the main master antenna move the direction only have chance to get back, which i don't think happen soon... sad.... |

QUOTE(joshhd @ Feb 15 2020, 02:34 AM) Oh? Which PV condo is it? Huh.. even the centralised antenna system need to reconfigure?I think you'll need to inform your building management about it, cuz I think the centralised antenna systems needs to be reconfigured on their side (if I'm not mistaken). If you can't wait, connect to an indoor antenna or short/small outdoor antenna. Since it's around KL area, and I believe there are many condos there has a balcony view of KL tower, signal reception wise should be fine. Such a tedious work, why they do so to create all this unnecessary problem. You know if condo, reconfigure, sure the staff have to arrange the vendor, then quotation, schedule, etc etc.. weeks to months also not sure can get it or not? Well, my indoor antenna that borrow from my colleague already return, and he resigned. no more chance to borrow. Ya, last time i have to pull the indoor antenna all the way to balcony in order to get the signal. Hope they won't simply change......again! |

QUOTE(joshhd @ Feb 17 2020, 05:41 PM) Maybe consider get a good antenna? Like this one, should be fine: Thanks, just not that nice & safe if I put indoor for family with kids.https://shopee.com.my/NEW-2020-!-Digita...3442.1588060687 If the signal is strong enough in your area, not necessary have to lay cable all the way to balcony. Who knows placing it even next to your TV can get strong signal already? Plus, this antenna is pretty small in size, so it's not that obtrusive. On Manual Search, key in either the frequency 650MHz (650000KHz) Channe 43 or CH 45 666MHz (666000KHz) Channel 45. Once done, monitor the signal readings while adjust/positioning your antenna until you get the highest signal readings possible. It is okay if the Strength reading is not that high, but the "Quality" is better to have 100% so that the reception will be reliable and won't easily experience "pixelation". So now you'll know which position will get the strong signal inside your condo unit. There's no guarantee that "they won't simply change" again in the future. No one can guarantee that. If in case the frequency needs to be migrated to other frequencies for some reasons, example when Malaysia would to use 600MHz band for way future 4G/5G services, then it has to be restacked too. Anyway, i have report to the management office. Let them check with the contractor and see how. For RTM, i only watch Sports channel. Mainly i watch 8TV only. |

QUOTE(joshhd @ Feb 24 2020, 05:36 PM) Btw just to give you a picture on what kind of works that needs to be done by the contractor. Thanks for the info.![]() See the "C49" sticker on that equipment? That is to indicate to the technician/contractor where that equipment is for Channel 49 - 698MHz; so that viewers can receive DTT signals for 698MHz CH49 which is Mux 2 channels that consists of RTM channels. Because 698MHz no longer in use, so that entire particular equipment (the one with the C49 sticker on it) have to be change/replaced into another piece of same exact equipment, but has been preconfigured as 650MHz Channel 43, so that the viewers in that building (connected to centralised antenna) will be able to receive 650MHz signal from Mux 2. That equipment cannot be retuned/adjusted/reconfigure) or whatsoever (the most is just power output levels or something like that). So after removing the equipment that is preconfigured to 698MHz, what can you do with that then? Unless if MYTV uses back Channel 49 698MHz (which is impossible), then only you can use back. Otherwise, there's nothing you can do. Throw away, or send to recycling centre maybe? Maybe can use it in hotel TVs where they can distribute their in-house or Astro channels through in-house DTT or cable TV to hotel room TVs. Not sure, just guess. Now I know how nightmare it is for centralised antenna contractors where they have to go replace all of this same equipment again on every single buildings that uses centralised antenna around the region when there is a frequency retune exercise again in the future. The above photo and information is provided by one of the centralised antenna installer that I got to know him through online. If you are an centralised antenna contractor, and if I might provide inaccurate info, do correct me with right info. Cuz I'm still not fully familiar with centralise antenna yet, but still learning though... That's very bad that the equipment cannot be re-tune or re-use. Until today, my condo management still not come back to me. According to the contractor, there is 2 ways of doing it, but he didn't tell me the details. For MYTV, they just announce the new frequency and never think about those building need time to replace.... |

QUOTE(joshhd @ Feb 26 2020, 02:59 PM) Oh? Thanks for sharing that information ya, is about the signal amplifier. He told me when he check at top floor (20 over floor) the signal is fine. I stay at 8 floor get nothing...Also, that equipment is like a signal amplifier, and each one of it would amplify the signal to around 4 floor levels (rough estimate, actual may depend on building and number of ports). So if a building has over 20+ floors like apartments, condos, hmmm, you roughly know la how many amplifiers and other equipment/cabling they got to configure and stuff. Basically, it becomes like a "building project" rather than just job task. Kudos to the centralised antenna contractors Not sure what he did, but very fast he able to fix today. Should be some setting only. Those contractors are very good business now, he told me his schedule is full, as so many building need to change.... |

QUOTE(joshhd @ Feb 26 2020, 05:41 PM) On the bright side, yeah, those contractors got lots of jobs to do; can cari makan Yes, exactly. MYTV should provide sufficient time to all the building management to arrange the work. Not just announce on their page and change it. But then in exchange, the residents (example just like you, who wants to watch news and some TV occasionally) have to wait for some time for the contractors to get it done. I mean, the hassle is there though. Cuz suppose that those contractors should get informed in advanced in the event of these kind of frequency retune exercise, isn't it? I wonder what MYTV is doing... They dump everything to the contractors to settle, yet they didn't get informed in advance about any frequency change, but only after someone complained....? If I'm not asking here, I have no idea as well. |

For those who use MyTV decoder, may i know what resolution you all use? I feel like once i set to 1080i, the decoder behave a bit lag on every step. Lately have intermediate blank screen and to the worse it show 'no signal' for few seconds and come back again. At first i suspect my cable or wall connector issue. I redo everything still the same. Until i factory reset the whole decoder then back to normal. However few days later. The screen intermediate blank start again. I wonder is the decoder too heavy for 1080 or it start to have problem already. Qash-M liked this post
