The ultimate owners of both radio stations is the SG Govt ... so some Gen Z ppl in the organization feels radio is a thing of the past and App is the way to go and hence the decision .... oh well, no one listens to this 2 state radio stations anyways, lol

QUOTE(joshhd @ Jul 30 2025, 02:57 AM)
From 30th Oct 2025 onwards, Singapore will have a total 3 vacant FM frequencies, which is 88.3MHz, 98.0MHz and also 99.5MHz (previously was used for Lush 99.5FM, ceased back in Sept 2017).
I'm thinking, if none of any Singapore broadcasters is interested to utilise these vacant FM frequencies to launch new radio stations, then perhaps Singapore's IMDA could consider release/reallocate/relinquish some or all 3 frequencies to either Malaysia or Indonesia.

Who knows there are some broadcasters been wanting to expand its FM stations in Johor Bahru (for Malaysia) or Batam (for Indonesia) but unable to, because entire FM frequency band is fully occupied/allocated by 3 countries (Malaysia's Johor Bahru, Singapore & Indonesia's Batam).
This would be a great opportunity to grab those vacant FM frequencies, although I hope that Malaysia will be getting it too biggrin.gif

possible .... maybe IMDA will action off again to some other players ... they always welcome more money, haha
