Bring in the regional non country specific Free to Air channels to Malaysian digital TV.
They're all already aired FREE and live on the internet with no region LOCK.

NHK World TV

Arirang World

CGTN

Channel News Asia

Earth TV Live (One of the best music background)

To match FM coverage more transmitters are required. The existing batch of transmitters operated by MYTV (44 transmitters nationwide) is not enough.
Unlikely to get these additions.
*
Why?

They're already aired free on the internet without regional locks or any restrictions.

For that reason why people who already experienced free live TV will never want to watch terrestrial TV anymore.

The saying some truth coming from Malaysian public and elders, our government purposely airs useless TV channels to dumb down the public.

I'm sure these companies are happy to expand their markets and reach if the local TV broadcasting companies are willing to cooperate with them with ads to maintain their operational costs.

Prob a few reasons behind this:

1. Bandwidth
Our current set of 2 muxes is pack full of programs, so if you wanna add those channels inside those muxes, you'd be reducing the currently abysmal bitrate down even lower, reducing the viewing experience  puke.gif , we could probably add those if we activate a third mux though, no plans when it'd be done.

2. Costs
Bringing in those channels will cost money as a program distributor, esp in terms of licensing and adding network capacity to carry those channels.
*
Dump and get rid of all the useless channels we have to make way for more capacity.

They are already free to air region free on the internet, just look at Sirius TV those channel lineups are just going to ruin the whole brand name with useless contents observed to be rubbish Aussie contents.

DW News Live:

Al Jazerra World News Live:

Earth TV Live World Weather

I'm sure those who lives in tree houses and long houses in the great rural will want to keep in touch with world news too, they don't have internet so the satellite is the only way to deliver news and knowledge to them.

Ditto for mytv will introduce highclass content to the masses, then kampung ppl will complain cannot understand biggrin.gif

Mytv nowadays is just catering for the masses, idk about they'll put other things inside it with all those rtm+media prima channels
*
Those are NOT high class contents but are free to air channels which are region free all available on the internet.

Even my late grandparents who got the chance to experience TV box live TV contents commented about Malaysian government airing dumb unwanted low grade contents for peasants to watch claims its very obvious to dumb the lower segments of societies who are in poverty.

Not only it's a joke in the eyes of the world to ridicule our country, it keeps those rural folks without the internet or access to outside the world to be dumb enough to keep falling for their political baits and bribes so that they'd listen to everything they tell them approaching elections.

If you feed them with highly informative and up to date FTA contents such as those documentaries like NHK World, Arirang Korea or CGTN, they'd soon catch up with the latest technologies which are used in Japan/Korea/China they'd one day wake up and see through all our government lies.

Do you know how our politicians found out about pesticide spraying drones? They were watching these kind of channels while our poor citizens who could only afford terrestrial TVs were fed with dangdut dancing low IQ contents.

Do you know why our environmental awareness is also so low and not being able to keep up with the international communities? This is also another reason when TV is just as good as "NOT" watching at all.

Yeah, but many kampung ppl has poor grasp of english, so that's why they cant understand.

Even if you petition them to add these, there's a problem of mytv execs are quite laid back on that and kinda cash-strapped too.
*
They will if the contents of the channels are highly interesting and addicting like those documentary and news channels I suggested above.

The last thing our government wants is a HIGHLY educated and informed society just like those of Switzerland, Norway, Western Europe, Japan, South Korea, HK and Singapore...

As a highly dumbed down society with low IQ is highly useful for the top 1% rich segment to exploit.

Anyway, quite hard to make mytv add those bcoz malay mindset and needs to protect local culture and media...

I'd like to see a mux being opened for private use tho (not mytv)...
*
That's the excuse they keep giving to make sure their plans get through.

Wait till you find out that even the Japanese and Mainland Chinese English newscaster have better English proficiency than our local ones. A country proud to be an ex-colony of British. laugh.gif

I'd observe my old folks tv watching habits and the only reason they'd tune in to a local TV channel is just to watch the national news which takes up less than 5% of their daily TV viewership.

Why would our government bleed previous public funds just to keep RTM and Madia Prima alive?

I would say it is not only quite hard but impossible for these channels to enter MYTV. There are just too many restrictions lay down to filter what can be showon TV and what not. Which is what prompted the mushrooming of satellite dishes and now TV Boxes.
*
Haha what restrictions? Restrictions not to allow our kampungnites and rural folks access to the real global news and technology front so that they can be dumbed down for as long as they can be taken advantaged for cheap labor?

Obviously the dissemination of real informative/educational media contents is highly controlled in our country for corrupted reasons.
