You want all channels

But you don't like giving money to astro

But you also complain MYTV (which is free) doesn't have all the channels

You are also complaining astro spends your money on just the same old content and not keep buying more and more new content.

Manis FM - A radio station for the East coast region - now added on MUX 1 on Channel 726. In terms of bitrate it is probably 32kbps HE-AAC V2.

According to Media Prima's Q5 quarterly report released on 24 May 2023, (Media Prima has changed their fiscal ending month from December to March), there are interesting things about TV ratings and share. (Source : Nielsen Audience Measurement)

TV3 remains undisputably as the leader, with an overall audience share of 26.3%. The overall Malay audience share for TV3 is 35.9% meanwhile for Malay homes with Astro, the share is 32.9%.

8TV records 11% overall audience share, which made it the second most watched TV channel in recent years. This is an record for this channel, an share that isn't recorded since the channel's creation in 2004. 8TV's status as the sole FTA Chinese channel in the country helps - as it recorded a massive 53.3% share among Chinese viewers.
Although there is a lack of local content on 8TV (which is necessary to promote local talent), they did achieve such ratings with a schedule which primarily consists of foreign content from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Korea. This is probably the reason why Media Prima choose to produce less Chinese local content for 8TV, as it could save money by doing so.

TV9's focus of moving from a schedule which mainly consists of WOW SHOP to a schedule which mainly consists of movies, children content, drama repeats, and Islamic programmes, helps the channel to achieve 4.6% audience share. Viewers are indeed coming back to this channel with their current lineup but this doesn't change the damage that has been done by Media Prima when they introduced WOW SHOP, which some still have the perception of FTA TV as a place on selling things such as pots.

On Media Prima's competitors, Awesome TV is the third most watched channel after TV3 and 8TV. This is despite the controversy such as biased, untrue news reports on their main news bulletin, Berita 7:57 and the channel is operating under the wrong license.

RTM TV1 and TV2 has 3.1% and 3.4% audience share respectively. This is despite RTM has tried hard on improving their lineup in recent years.

On pay TV side, Astro Ceria is the most watched pay TV channel with 5.5% audience share. It is also the forth most watched TV channel in the country overall The neglection of children content on FTA TV in recent years (in favour to WOW SHOP) has resulted the ratings for the kids segment being handed to Astro Ceria for free from the FTA channels.

And, by the looks of the hardcoded Chinese and English subtitles, it seems to me that the movie copy source are from those pirated movie websites from China 
But it's a test run la...

Right after this movie ends, it shows a short channel ident. And then another movie starts right away... No commercials...

This time, with hardcoded Malay and Chinese subtitles.
As you can see, subtitle font and font size is different and inconsistent across different programmes. Subtitles are shown within the anamorphic aspect ratio of the content.

Another thing I notice is, the video motion appears pretty jerky/lag/not smooth.
Although the channel video itself is 50i (according to MediaInfo), I suspect is TV5's end where some of their playout/canvas settings are not set as 50fps (probably mistakenly set to 60fps), which causes the viewer to see unsmooth motion, even on their channel ident.

Anyway, it's good to see that we have a new TV channel on digital TV platform after a loooong wait. 

TV AlHijrah has finally broadcast in full HD quality. Witness it yourself on Ch 114 Astro & MYTV. Unifi TV is yet to upgrade, still in SD 16:9.

I just noticed that there are no OTA EPGs for Media Prima channels. Channels sharing the same mux but not under Media Prima (TV5, Awesome, TVS) still has EPG. So I presume this is Media Prima only issue

Change topic a while... This is more related to FM radio broadcasts.

Sarawak and Sabah version of Hitz FM and MY FM will cease and to be migrated to the same version as Peninsular Malaysia.

For those who don't know, if you tune to Hitz FM, Era FM or MY FM radio station in Sarawak and Sabah, some of the radio programming, radio announcers and also advertisements are completely different compared to the Hitz FM, Era FM or MY FM version that you listen in Peninsular Malaysia. The 3 radio stations mentioned has been broadcasting in localised feed since 2010, and this is about to change effective 1 October 2023.

In case you still don't understand, from 1 October 2023 onwards:
- Hitz FM and MY FM transmission in Sarawak and Sabah, will revert back to the same radio feed as Peninsular Malaysia today.
- Whatever you listen on Hitz FM and MY FM stations via FM radio transmissions within Peninsular Malaysia today, and then you fly to Sarawak/Sabah and tune to Hitz FM and MY FM transmission there, it will be the same version as what you listen back in Peninsular Malaysia.
- No more Sarawak/Sabah-based radio announcers, radio programming and localised advertisements thereafter.

Why, you ask?
In the screenshot above, it mentions "in line with Astro Radio's transformation."
To me, it suggests that it is either they want to cut cost, or it is not making money, or both.

However, Era FM is not affected, and it will still continue its localised feed broadcast in Sarawak and Sabah just like today.
Maybe because localised Era FM versions in Sarawak and Sabah is making enough money. 

Hot FM, Fly FM, Eight FM has returned to MYTV platform on Channels 712, 713, 715.

At least for me - there is no more overly compressed audio on Fly FM that is on JB 102.5 MHz.

Meanwhile, Molek FM is added to MYTV platform on Channel 714. KOOL 101 is missing - despite it was previously available on MYTV as Buletin FM.

The addition significantly widen the reach of 4 radio stations.

18 TV stations and 16 radio stations are available on the platform - for now.

All 4 services are on MUX 1.
