*first it was the rain, now the sun outage
Least they announce it beforehand, unlike astroll.
My friend will be going to the ABU DBS Conference 2020 at Hotel Istana tomorrow, and he got the chance to ask lots of questions from the actual professional persons from the industry there.
And... Those technical persons from MYTV Broadcasting is having a talk too...
If you have questions that the usual customer service agents can't answer, do post your questions here, and I'll see what my friend can help Of course, don't ask questions like "Why so many CJ Wow Shop...." or "why MYTV channels so boring?" or "when will upgrade all channels to HD?".....
For me just one question: why the inconsistent video quality can't be improve I mean, when will they use HEVC on current video bitrates on all channels tho.
As for the bitrate use, it's probably something gonna do with their business model. And if they use HEVC, then every Malaysian DTT viewers are forced to change to a HEVC supported digital TV box/tuner to watch the HEVC channel. MYTV can earn money from the sale of H.265 HEVC supported STBs from MYTV Broadcasting, but those viewers are not gonna be happy cuz millions of STBs needs to be replaced.
The T2/S2 combo decoder one does have HEVC support tho. And it's quite popular for a certain reason.

Only a few tens of thousands of users are using S2/T2 box. But there are millions of users using T2-only box, and for MYTV, Botato and Greenpacket brands, it is DVB-T2 only and up to H.264 only.
Just imagine how disaster would it be if MYTV change all channels to HEVC video codec, like right now, or even within this year. Things are not as simple as changing some settings with just a few mouse clicks.
Eh no worry, just made a seperate mux for HEVC only channels.
Ask Media Prima instead, why is all Media Prima channels (TV3, NTV7, 8TV and TV9) is still in SD quality on Astro, and when will HD quality available? You complain to Astro also, they'll probably just close one eye, and move on to other complaint cases.
Speaking of it, the "myfreeview" watermark on MP channels is removed.

Update : That usual self amusing watermark has reappeared to 2 CJ WOW SHOP channels. Luckily the main Media Prima channels (TV3/NTV7/8TV/TV9) remained watermark free, likely permanent, after its removal on 10 March.
MYTV Broadcasting is not Santa Claus. They're just a provider that in charge for its digital TV infrastructure (means those technical stuff), ensuring Malaysians can receive digital TV channels, not creating TV content.
This one you got to ask RTM, Media Prima all those, to offer better shows to all.
Speaking of which, TV3 & tv9 on tonton removed 1080p livestream option.
