CBU certainly feels more solid tbh. my family own a CBU and CKD F30 and the CBU doors close so much better, clicks better.  built quality difference very obvious. the new G series we not sure

however its true that CBU built based on home country climate. we noticed the rubber cracked earlier, got some tiny aesthetic interior issue (due to park in the sun). but for the extra 40k+, i would save it and go CKD beause we have to consider depreciation.

as its a BMW, i dont see those safety lane assist as something that will be implemented on a 3series. so its either you want more horsepower or less (320i will launch soon).  320i will be 30k-40k+ cheaper so you think about it.

Thanks for your feedback. Appreciate it.

I actually saw the CKD G20 unit at the showroom and the joints of the interior plastics seems to be less seamless with gaps relative to the CBU units.

I thought that those are assembled by machines & robots? How much of it is done manually?

Also I've heard from the salesgirl that the CBU unit suspension is slightly stiffer as compared to the CKD - when she follows her customer for test drive she noticed it.

suspension stiffness can be adjust. itS true CKD is less stiff, we sent it back to auto bavaria and they did some adjustment for us.
automation mainly on welding, parts production, painting. fixture and stuff they do have the standard template but its done by manual labour.

however like i previously stated, does depreciation matter? do you want to drive this car as a daily car ( my family did 120k KM for our CKD in 3 years)? if so, go for CKD,

They are 2 kind of suspension set up for BMW...

1 is the normal suspension set up, while the other is the M Sport suspension..
Usually the M Sport suspension is more lowered (around half to one inch) and stiffer..
If want comfort ask for normal spec and not the M sport package.

You need to ask, some is just M-Sport bodykit and not suspension.

Anyone knows when the 320i G20 will be launched? Hope it's Q1 2020, so can have premium selection by Q4 2020 (My F20 warranty ending then so need to trade in ASAP)

I think last week someone spotted it in Port Klang

Thanks for your response. I guess the key question here is how likely the 330i price would drop to RM240k- RM250k next year end (15% discount) - when they wanted to clear their 2020 stocks. That would mean that the current buyer of discounted CBU (RM270k) is paying a 30k premium for CBU unit?

By any chance how much does it cost for the runner to do all those pre-reg work?

Just want to give you an update since you asked about it; I bought the G20 330i CBU registered in March '19 for RM239k two weeks ago. So it depreciated by RM89k in a little less than a year. According to my SA, the CBU is running out fast, not so sure about that since I can still see them posted online in Carlist (which is where I first found them)

With my fleet discounts I can get the CKD for RM265k but decided to save RM26k, skipped the one year-depreciation and CBU-assembly as a bonus

it was. Plus free tinting from 3M. Good quality and installation

But I have clocked now clocked it to 15k km since getting the car in February, that 7k km in 3 months, including the MCO periods. Won't say where I went la, so many kaypochi here hehehe

I travel a lot for business calls, and I am happy each time I leave my car laugh.gif

Bro, that's quite a decent amount of mileage you've put in since getting the car too.

My current ride also not even breached 10K since I got it in July19. Haha.

Home to work also around 12-13km one way and the occasional drive down to in-law at Seremban around 1-2 times a month.

Since July '19? that's about 10 months now including the MCO, so you only do 1k km a month. If you do not go much further than you claimed, that sounds about right -~600km for work, the rest for leisure. btw what car is it?

Now that you mention it, I don't really know where I have been to rack up 7k km in 3 months, other than meeting the clients at their home or work. However I do know that I enjoy driving even to far corners of Klang Valley now, the car is "effortlessly fast".

It is not the fastest car, certainly not as fast as the Porsche Cayman that I test drove some weeks ago, but it is unnoticeably fast. When driving, my eyes tell that I am moving at high speeds, but my body doesn't report the same sensation; so this can be deceiving and in some instances, dangerous. When I first got the car I would a corner a little too fast and had to make corrections to that

Talking about the Cayman, the boxer engine was a little "too much" - it was rough, loud and the car as a whole was quite a stiff ride. It went from 100kmh to reach X00kmh much more easily than the 330i but it is not like you get to drive at such high speeds all the time. Problem is, the Cayman isn't an ideal car for city driving due to the pot holes on the roads and worse visibility, nor do I drive too fast too often on the highways - it is a head turner though

Then again maybe it is just me, since reaching my 30s a few years ago, I've grown more fond of "touring" rather than sports. Im itching to drive to the east coast for some deep fried seafood during raya (1st day celebrate, 2nd day head to Terengganu/Pahang)

I believe they are camera based, not radar based. Which is a pass for mer. If they are radar based BMW would have added the "adaptive cruise control" feature too, but they didn't

I will ask today once I go to BMW Service Center. Must get to the bottom of this laugh.gif

Myvi G3 only bro. Haha. I bought it to replace my previous Jaguar. Cannot tahan the maintenance and wife nagging so opted to get a new car that's simple and reliable. My first brand new car actually and didn't really think about other marques cos I needed to be realistic about my earnings plus managing the cash for my family. For a sub $60K car, what else to look out for since I'm looking to have it for the long haul until the time comes to upgrade my wife's ride. brows.gif

If you're using Android phone and have Google locations turned on, you can actually use the 'timeline' feature to keep track of all your whereabouts... Pretty nifty feature although many might think Google is being a nosy congolomerate as usual and keeping track of all aspects of our lives.

Yea, you're right about speed, or the sensation of it.

100+ km/hr as a passenger in my aunt's Kenari on Federal Highway many years ago was a sweaty affair vs sitting in my mum's old W124 Benz.

But it's really not safe to drive cars at certain limits cos of the floaty feeling. 180km in my Myvi isn't the same as pushing 180 in my Jaguar too. brows.gif

Cayman is good. You shared before you're planning on it potentially being your next ride once it's time to move up from your current 3 series.
