Get the V12E2, way much better than the overpriced XM2! V12E2 is UHP category while XM2 is just low end eco category tire. V12E2 is only around rm165-170 for that size, not 200! If you're considering XM2, might as well buy the PS3 coz just slightly higher price yet do much better UHP category tire. But again V12E2 is better value for money than PS3 coz much cheaper for about the same performance.

As for the rest, just forget about them!

Genuinely curious, I see a lot of people preaching UHP tires regardless of a person's requirement, but does UHP really meet everyone's need? What if the driver just wants quiet and comfortable tire which has a tread wear that lasts forever, is UHP still appropriate for this kind of use case?

He asks for comfort with minimal sacrifice of performance so I think the V12E2 fits the bill. It's still UHP but pretty silent with relatively soft sidewall hence also pretty comfy ride. IMHO it's a pretty well balanced tire in all those criteria. Other choices like Cc6, Uc6, XM2 are geared towards just comfort and durability but sacrifices a lot on performance, basically lousy grip! Anyway the main function of tire is to transfer power to the ground and give change of directions, so grip performance must always be higher priority and the others are secondary.

My old myvi SE with some tyre at 195/55/15 will touch fender at rear at bumpy road, still using Neuton NT8000 already 4+ years old. Good grip & comfort, assymetric design.

My friend using UC6, he mentioned very good comfort & silent if compare with he previous tyre Hankook Evo2, very noisy coz the V design & after 3 - 4 months the grip drop & not confident at corner in wet road condition. He driving Innova but he drive 120KmH+ during rain. Now he drive more confident with UC6, but just 3+ month. Normally I suggest my officemate try UC6 SUV for their SUV, reasonable price. May be I will also try it after this coz my PS4 already 2+ years old.

For more info read: http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Continen...Contact-UC6.htm
Can compare & read other user review there.

My son's Swift is using the V12E2 for over 20k km now and still not noisy and good performance. I can still whack it over 120kph in the wet. On the other hand a former office colleague bought UC6 for his Camry and regretted it coz he said the handling not so stable and I think it makes sense coz UC6 is just 1 level above the lowest CC6 in Continental range.

Your son's very lucky, may be coz light small car & drive carefully in town area. My friend very hard braking driving style & heavy load big MPV. Last time had different experienced with same tyre with different car, Yoko Cdrive 2, very good & long lasting with Preve Turbo but average performance with my brother BMW 7 series.

If read under U.K tyre review also had mix feedback for Hankok Evo2.

I also often drive the Swift and I drive quite fast too. Our routine route is always 60-70% highway. Previously my wife's Livina also used V12E2. For the price I think it's excellent value for money.

I had two bad experienced with V type tyre, good in wet but noisy. First with Goodyear Directional & second Toyo T1R, Toyo T1 Sport is good grip & comfort. Now after Finish Michelin Primacy using PS4. Feel full confident driving in wet, anyway I could get cheaper than normal price. Normally my tyre could last nearly 3 years

I used F1D5 before, yes it's not silent but ok for me. V12E2 is more silent than F1D5.

If you read Toyo T1R & T1Sport had same medium compound but different tread design, coz T1R v type compound it noisy esp at concrete or old road.

T1R is not good to begin with. Even T1S also not so good and got people saying it's also still noisy.

That is why I highlighted it. Personally I think its quite impossible, plus still havent reached the safety indicator. Besides, I been through that route before many years ago. Yes, it was way bendy back then and then they built a straight road towards Kuala Lipis later on but still, it is quite a feat to reach 120K with tyre life to spare.

If me, I can only reach 40-50k km ising TW 280-340 so I would need to change at least twice already for 120k km!
