wah wah wah, time to claim those accessories if possible...especially 18w usb-c charger + USB-c to lightning cable
*
Yeah, now you need to keep track of your accessories too to be able to claim new one before the warranty is over laugh.gif

To repeat what you stated to me in another thread. This model is in demand, so, no necessity to go that route.
*
Ya, I believe that is the case but was hopeful they would have some sort of a discount since the successor is imminent. Oh well, wishful thinking on my part smile.gif

Have tried the 11 Pro Max before passing it on to my better half, just wanted to try the 11 to see if it's vastly improved from the XR.

selling now would be a not so good idea. some potential buyer hold their bullet for the upcoming iphone 12 lineup.
so, the only left would be those who keen on cheaper price second hand iphone 11 series.
some already throw price like crazy to sell their device fast.
*
Selling after the new iPhone is released may be worse, the older one would have dropped even more significantly in the price and less interest due to the 12 series released already. Double whammy laugh.gif

Well at least you got your phone with you until the new model released. And if the new release wasn't that great might be in term of price or design or durability, you can stick with current gen.
Last time I sold iphone 5s for iphone 6 plus, which end up got bendgate issue. So, selling now or later wouldn't make any significant change, but IMO selling after release might be good.
*
Yeah, I usually try to sell off my iPhones before the warranty expires so that the transaction is far easier and faster, but now that iPhones are so expensive, I just sell it after I've upgraded, if want to kena lowball then at least the phone got no warranty left so not so bad, hahaha

Don't think will be selling off my iPhone 11 Pro Max so soon though. Wife really likes it, especially the green colour.

iphone 11 pro max is already a very capable machine already. will remain strong for upcoming few years.
haha, if no need to sell it's cool to have some phone as spare. I'm also like that. If the phone is great, I hardly justify myself not to sell.
*
I've never kept phones as spares. If I just need one again I'll just hunt for another used one that is cheaper than the one I sold laugh.gif

Anyone got iPhone dual sim hong kong set? If got problem can we go to any authorised apple reseller or apple Malaysia to claim?
*
There have been successful claims in the past by some other folks here when they had issues, but there may be additional steps like contacting Apple Support directly in the event the authorised centres reject your claims. Bear in mind if you get a replacement unit, it would be a Malaysia set with one physical SIM and e-SIM support.

Yes, after 2 years the battery capacity will drop below 80%. Actually the price of battery replacement at apple is quite reasonable.
*
Although the X and XS are good phones in their own right, I find the 11 Pro is when Apple finally got it right with this new phone design, with the better battery life, faster and more reliable Face ID and the night mode photos. Can't wait to see the 12!

Tbh, I have got so used to face unlock I have forgotten about fp unlock.
*
Face ID is a bit more inconvenient now due to the mask mandate laugh.gif

Ideally we will get an in-display FP reader but knowing Apple, it definitely won't be this year. Apple won't implement anything unless they think it is perfect and unfortunately in-display FP readers are still far from perfect yet.

Somehow or rather, I feel Face ID is much more secure and safer. Heck we even use it to unlock so many important apps nowadays it has become so very convenient. Can't bear the thoughts of going back to FP.
*
Yeah true. It's very intuitive. I had some issues with the in-display FP reader of the Pogo, which also drove me to let it go earlier than I anticipated.

price immediately dropped 25% to 30% at least. could be even more at close to 40%. haha.
*
I would argue the 11 Pro Max will be a very good buy once the price drops 30% smile.gif

I do miss fingerprints these days since with the masks on. I guess moving forward most smartphone designs will also have to be disease proof/convenience in the future. Lol.

Only option would be an on screen FP sensor which would be a hit and miss. But I think I'm still ok with the facial unlock on the iphone, dont think I would need on screen FP.
*
Hopefully they will implement the under display FP reader sooner rather than later. They have the patent for it already...

Yeah, our over reliance on biometrics will one day haunt us, haha...

A month or so to go before new iPhones get announced and looks likely to be arriving slightly later than usual this year

I am sorry but what are you talking about? Comparing a <6k iPhone with a VW Passat?

Let's recap this,
- phone is dead out of nowhere within 7 months
- machines chase me away "i dont know you, not my problem"
- that apple carline accuse me for damaging the phone
- the repair center telling me "its like this"
- getting a refurbished phone with 3 months warranty wrapped in white paper, like i am buying it from night market or gray market
- the repair center "classifies" the root cause of the problem and doesn't even let me know
- i will have trouble selling it off if i want to upgrade, because the serial number wont match the one on the box, so advertise it as full set and explain to you people why there's difference?

shocking.gif I am from Europe, i am not used to this.
*
Two things - firstly, Malaysia has far weaker consumer protection laws compared to the US and Europe. There is no way you will get a refund after a purchase, especially after 7 months. Depending on where you get your phone from, some retailers have a return policy but as far as I know they mostly cover one to one exchange and not full refund. And that policy ranges within 3 to 14 days max, not for the whole year. Secondly, as there is no official Apple Store in Malaysia, distributors and service providers like IT World, Machines, QCD, etc. have their own policy which is largely what their staff is trained to follow. They just do what they are told, nothing more. Apple mostly provides refurnished sets as replacement for damaged phones, in fact, it is clearly stated in their policy: -

"Goods presented for repair may be replaced by refurbished goods of the same type rather than being repaired. Refurbished parts may be used to repair the goods."

You can seek legal advice if you aren't satisfied.

Last week, out of the blue, Apps on my iphone 11 pro all went kaput... crashed. Plugged in the Mac and it said out of storage... WTF. Reboot took long time the first time, can't delete files or photos because none of the apps work. Reboot again and it went into loop. Try to restore, it hang in error 35. The phone is dead. Check the web, it seems there is a huge thread regarding this out of storage looping issue, some serious bug.

Anyway..

Took it to ITWorld @PJ, by the way, they are an awesome premium Apple Care center in KL. They can't restore the phone either, same with error 35 so i dropped it for hardware fixes...

5 biz days later, i got a brand new iPhone 11 Pro! 11 months old with one month standard warranty left, no Applecare + and Apple replaced a brand new unit for me. Service says Motherbroad crapped out, i say great feacking deal!! My old phone had screen, camera & body scratches, been dropped few times, in the water as well.... i thought they going to chuck it off with water leak and bill me a kidney but i got a brand new unit instead - no cost PLUS additional two months warranty since a repair/replacement unit get 3 months warranty and i got one left.  icon_rolleyes.gif  icon_rolleyes.gif

Kudo to Apple and Kudo to IT World @ PJ. thumbsup.gif

Update : I forgot to claim the free 1 year Apple TV on my last phone, it expired. This replacement phone also give me a 2nd chance to reclaim it and i did. No more mistake.
*
The replacement was a refurbished phone right, with a white box and everything?

My unit started with N, a replacement. I didn't pay attention to the color of the box but i did ask if that's a brand new or refurb? She mentioned along the line, not a refurb, some country gets refurb but we don't, you can consider them a brand new.
*
Most replacement units can be refurbished ones as stated clearly by Apple as per my earlier post but I hardly think that's a bad thing. What's more important is they honour the warranty claim and solve the customer's problems - and I'm glad they did so for you in this case smile.gif

That's specific for Aussie market tho. As the lady mentioned, other country could get refurb as replacement but not here. Yes, true. Either one is better than my 11 months old, screen and camera scratched old iPhone.

Haha, yeah, either way it’s a win win for you biggrin.gif
