I am sorry but what are you talking about? Comparing a <6k iPhone with a VW Passat?
Let's recap this,
- phone is dead out of nowhere within 7 months
- machines chase me away "i dont know you, not my problem"
- that apple carline accuse me for damaging the phone
- the repair center telling me "its like this"
- getting a refurbished phone with 3 months warranty wrapped in white paper, like i am buying it from night market or gray market
- the repair center "classifies" the root cause of the problem and doesn't even let me know
- i will have trouble selling it off if i want to upgrade, because the serial number wont match the one on the box, so advertise it as full set and explain to you people why there's difference?

I am from Europe, i am not used to this.
Two things - firstly, Malaysia has far weaker consumer protection laws compared to the US and Europe. There is no way you will get a refund after a purchase, especially after 7 months. Depending on where you get your phone from, some retailers have a return policy but as far as I know they mostly cover one to one exchange and not full refund. And that policy ranges within 3 to 14 days max, not for the whole year. Secondly, as there is no official Apple Store in Malaysia, distributors and service providers like IT World, Machines, QCD, etc. have their own policy which is largely what their staff is trained to follow. They just do what they are told, nothing more. Apple mostly provides refurnished sets as replacement for damaged phones, in fact, it is clearly stated in their policy: -
"Goods presented for repair may be replaced by refurbished goods of the same type rather than being repaired. Refurbished parts may be used to repair the goods."
