How special can the monster be? A Hydra? 3 heads? Chimera? Even Alien and predator is
All rather plain already. Maybe if it's something like a monster that uses dead humans to form it's gruesome body is interesting and then when it attacks, some of the dead humans it uses as form, break apart in pieces all over the city. Gross & freaky. |

This movie is not a movie but a motion master ride el cheapo version where you don't move. No story too like a motion master ride.

QUOTE(funnyTONE @ Jan 17 2008, 02:52 PM) I liked TC_Boy review. He wrote just like I imagine I myself would have expected. I mean, yea...the whole shaky camera view might be uncomfortable, but this is something new! Of course, with the exception of Blair Witch, but I have much confidence in JJ Abrams in making the story much more gripping. Not my review. There's a URL from where I got it.I suppose if this movie were on a standard movie camera view, we'd all pass this movie as just another monster flick, but with this different approach, we could actually imagine and experience ourselves what would it be like on the scene of the event. Mind you, this requires viewers to have a great deal of imagination. Despite the not so encouraging reviews, I'm still eager to watch the movie tonight. Probably watch it 2 times back to back just to get the whole story again....hehehe! RROOAAARRR~~~ |

QUOTE(funnyTONE @ Jan 17 2008, 05:18 PM) I go to the movies to be impressed. This movie is not impressing. Transformers was bad enough with the shaky shots, cropped view of the action designed to make the robots look too huge to fit into the screen and the grey robot mess during close combat. This post has been edited by TC_Boy: Jan 17 2008, 05:41 PM |

QUOTE(jhcj @ Jan 17 2008, 05:41 PM) Everyone's entitled to their own opinions I suppose. It's quite real, studies have shown people do crazy things during emergencies like a room on fire. Not everyone will run for the door. Some will look for their friends, children & stuff. They don't make it out alive. To me, the movie is awesome in that it manages to capture the sense of you (as in the viewer) being there. Some parts of the movie were really intense, and I was literally glued to my seat e.g. the part where the folks were walking down the street and all of a sudden WHOAMG GUNFIRE AND MISSLES ZOMG! Man....I was breathless. If you're looking to find out about where the monster came from, or if it survived at the end, and what not...be prepared to be dissapointed, because this movie is all about telling a story from the point of a view of a person living through the nightmare of a monster attacking your city. Brownie points for realism there. But there were some scenes which I thought were a little overdone though. For example, when the people started taking pictures of the head of the Statue of Liberty...come on, you're under attack for crying out loud! Take a damned picture and run! Not stand there and wait. >_> All in all... 7.5 out of 10 for me. |

Here's an idea they could have used.
Start with a giant monster destroying the city then it was nuked but killing everyone in the city too. aftermath. Find out where it came from and recover from the disaster & horror of it. Then hit them again with another giant monster. |

QUOTE(williamngwl @ Jan 17 2008, 11:14 PM) Seems like the ending should have been the tape later being ejected out from a player. On the coffee table, you see a newspaper with a cover up story as headlines. Then the tape is labeled Cloverfield. Then placed into a brown box with number and taken away to be filed away at the same place where all top secret X-files stuff go. |

Here's a thought. The early pirated version is a videocam version of a videocam movie.

QUOTE(James_yka @ Jan 18 2008, 01:34 AM) After the monster bitten Hud, it went forward not noticing there are ppl behind it... then only both of them went to rescue hud... It was just my recommendation for a proper ending. I didnt saw anything about a coffee table with cover up newspaper, where was it ? i was watching at GSC BTS... At the end i also heard something after the credit, but just not too clear about it... I think this is a good movie... great concept, new perspective... At 1st i wasnt really expecting to see anything monster-like movie... Even tot of not even the full figure of the monster... I was just curious just how would they shot it, and its great... Recommended for all those who wanted a fresh new type of movie... |

QUOTE(Cruzer @ Jan 18 2008, 09:25 AM) Bad camera, Transformers had bad camera work but not as bad as Cloverfield. Damn Cloverfield is just spoiled by having everything viewed thru the videocam. I think it should have been done like FPS games or those POV porns and not thru the damn bad image quality & shaky videocam. This post has been edited by TC_Boy: Jan 18 2008, 09:53 AM |
