Do you mind telling what car is it? Exact model? Cause some has built-in immobiliser which will be more expensive to duplicate. Without immobiliser, it only cost less than RM100 to duplicate the key and the remote. Don't need to travel to KL. I am sure it can be done in Melaka. Try checking with those mobile locksmith in Pasar Malam. Most of them are able to duplicate key fobs. Even those with immobiliser they can duplicate as long as you have another set of the keyfob.

Ohhh wait..I think the metal piece is for the immobiliser code. That means the car does have immobiliser. Should be no problem to duplicate as long as you still have the ori key or the tag.

to make new car key with immobilizer, the car need to be present as well. need to program inside the car (ecu) so that it can register the new key and old key.

Bro, ask few more shop nearby and compare la de..
Price also very subjective, If you in KL or Johor Bharu with all those high cost shop lot this is cheap, if you in small town area with everything cheap & cheerfull then expensive. The best way is to get at least 2 or 3 different shop to quote and go.

I have a Kia Picanto 2014. One of the ori key fob consumes battery within 1 week. The other is working fine. I've gone back to Kia to ask for replacement. Was quoted 450.
I went around google/Brothers USJ 1, and a few key specialists shop - all say they don't do such thing.
Went into lazada - bought a similar looking fob from China cost me RM45, but I couldn't get it to work - watching youtube for push to start keyless to start car. (like press 15 times quickly to go into programming mode etc).

See youtube below:

Honestly, I still haven;t found a cheap/economical way to replace my Kia Picanto key fob, either new or reprogram one that i buy off Lazada/Shopee myself.

Anyone has any idea - please share.
Thank you in advance.

P/S - the unit of fob i buy off lazada for RM45? - I returned to lazada for 30days no questions asked refund.

But I'm still sitting with a battery consuming fob. Meanwhile using the spare - 2nd fob.

most key has a transponder chip that works with car immobilizer... dig this out and stick it hidden nearby the switch... then you can cut any new key to start the car... alarm should still work manually locking door with key... just remember no more immobilizer... biggrin.gif
